The 3 No's to Newton

As I read the last few post I get to thinking what was the situation when the Chargers drafted Rivers?? I am thinking they already had Brees on the roster. Passing on a QB this draft simply because the Panthers drafted Clausen last year does not show a sign of weakness towards the franchise. Putting all your eggs in one basket = Clausen is probably more risky than anything. If the one making the decision, evaluation etc think Cam or another QB in this draft can be a franchise guy they should pull the trigger. Best case scenario the Panthers end up with two starter quality QB's.

No, I wouldn't use my #1 on any of them though. I would have used it on Luck without thinking twice. If you read my next post you'd know that I think stocking up on QB prospects (any round as long as their talent dictates their postision, not the lack of other prospects talent) might be a good idea.

Fair enough. But if we don't do it in the 1st round, I doubt it will happen at all.

I like Mallet in the fourth... though he probably wouldn't make it... or Dalton as a late round flyer.... again might not make it. Does anybody know about any back up QBs that would be coming out? That seems to be a good option to explore. like brady... and a couple others that I don't remember now. Maybe them being a backup in college will drop their draft stock, and we can find a keeper.

The later rounds is where we'd disagree.

Given that we already have two young prospects, my take is that if there's not a guy worth taking at #1 overall (and I don't believe there is) then there's no point in adding another young guy to a mix that already has a couple. I'd rather go to camp with Clausen, Pike, Moore and a free agent.

I know I'm not supposed to do this on the forum... but I agree with that assessment of this draft.

I wouldn't mind throwing just about anybody into the mix and possibly increase the odds, but I'll agree that there's probably nobody out there this draft that'll add much.... who knows though. And not pike... please no pike

the team that goes in with clausen, pike, moore and just about any vet available this year is going to be rightly laughed at....esp. if that vet is some old "stop gap" QB with no future in the league who gets the start. this was the WORST passing offense in the league and to think we should keep the same group we had last year is a horribly dumb idea. coaching was a problem, but to think that we didn't just have a bad group of QBs is just ridiculous.

pike is a very weak choice and shouldn't be kept over much of anyone else. we need to get past that guy as quickly as possible. either get the best QB available in this draft or get the best young FA vet QB with a bit of starting experience and toss pike to the side (or practice squad, i don't really care).

we are going to regret it if we think that the long term answer is likely clausen, moore, or pike and stick with them as the only "projects".

for a team that said that fixing QB is priority #1, sticking with who we got is a weak ass idea.

Dumb as hell post. You don't care he is a cheat and a thief? Right there you lost all credibility as a poster. Next you don't care about the system he ran? you think Bradford was in a simple system? You are an idiot. Bradford was known for reading the field better than just about anyone coming out of college in the last 20 years you moron. how many times you worked with the OU staff? How many times have you met Malzahn, been to his clinics? Let me clue you in son, the answer for me is MANY TIMES and I can tell you, you're dumb as hell

Says the guy who is running off of speculation. Show me PROOF! Undeniable, legitimate, HARD evidence that the pay for play involved Newton. As stated earlier in this thread. This is America. Innocent until proven guilty. If there is no PROOF, he can't be convicted. So, prosecuting him on here on SPECULATION on what COULD have happened is stupid.

Look at Beason. Probably my favorite player on this team. Went to Miami. Part of the 7th Floor Crew. Plenty of people said "oh, character issues. Talking about lewd activity in that dorm room!" Look at him now. Multiple pro-bowls. One of the best defensive players, let alone linebackers in the league. My point is, whatever happens early in a person's life can prove to be nothing but a coincidence of young age and stupidity. Get over yourselves.

So, in trying to say Newton DID DO these things, you have lost all credibility as a poster. God I hope you are a lawyer one day so you can really see how bad you are at posing an argument.

The part you bolded had nothing to do with pay for play. It said he was a cheat and a thief, regarding the cheating on tests and the stolen laptop. There is plenty of hard evidence for that.

Right, but due to the fact that he was guilty of those two unrelated incidents, he assumes he must be guilty of the pay for play. Just connecting the dots.

I mean it doesn't take much common sense to know that a pay for play was going on and he knew about it. It's whether you care or not and whether you think that is a character concern.

People knew Bush did it before the NCAA ruled on it so it's not a big deal.

Again, show me proof where Cam knew about it? You can't make a truth claim without evidence. It is like me saying "all rabbits are white". It only takes 1 rabbit that isn't white to prove that theory false. You think Cam did it. You are entitled to that opinion. But it is not fact, otherwise, he or Auburn would have faced punishment. Sure, the investigation will take more time. But at this point, we can't say he did it. What, if he gets proven innocent after the investigation ends, are you still gonna stand by "he did it/knew about it?" Nobody "knew" Bush did anything until it was proven. People assumed he did, and they were right. But nobody "knew" anything because nothing had been ruled. I can KNOW somebody committed a felony, but if I have no proof, that won't hold up in any debate whatsoever.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!! this "show me proof he new about it" garbage makes me SICK! He CLEARLY knew about it. A dad who is as involved in his son's process (look up the articles about where his son went... florida, Blinn, etc Cecil is a HUGE part of Cam's decision each and every time), and is as involved in his life doesn't pull a fast one on his son like this. They were in it together.

Cam stole a laptop because he was taught to take what he could get growing up by a father who continued to do just that. They were in it together, period. Anybody who denies it is either an Auburn fan or simply Naive.

That being said, Hopefully Cam has learned by now that the real way to get ahead is hard work. If so, then God bless him. By lets not pretend he didn't know about it. what about when Cam told the recruiter from mississippi state, "They're just offering too much..." Do you think he was talking about marbles????

The fact that he stole a laptop is disturbing, the fact that he cheated on tests in florida raises some red flags, the pay for play... not a point for him, but the fact that he father is CLEARLY a ME FIRST type of dude makes me wonder if he raised is son the same way, which is hard to avoid. That's the scariest red flag all for me.

You can debate the importance of the pay for play thing... which, to be honest doesn't disturb me as much as some other things, but PLEASE DON'T claim he didn't know about it. that's just stupid

when you assume things you make an ass out of your self. cam did not steal a laptop, he bought one that was stolen.
