JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

Don't believe for a second that the reports coming out about the meetings have been unbias and completey accurate portrayals of everything that has gone on. That being said... No doubt JR is not afraid to play "bad cop" here. They likely were unsatisfied with what the players proposed and I bet the players also didn't want to compromise past their initial offering.

The owner group has already said they refuse to negotiate in public.

Going public is the only thing the players have going for them now... they are hoping to swing the fans.

I'm sure fans across the country will appreciate that one of the least wealthy owners from the one of the smallest NFL markets is creating a contentious atmosphere in these negotiations. I'm sure fans across the country will love it that the Carolina Panther owner maybe the reason that there won't be football next year. Not the owners of the Giants, Bears, Eagles, Cowboys, or Redskins. But the owner of the franchise that has not even been around for 20 years. I'm sure that will play well with the fans across the country.

Not the kind of thing I like hearing.

Will say again thought that I think Richardson is the "designated a--hole" among the owners, and he seems fine with that. But don't make the mistake of thinking that means he's a lone wolf here.

It's deluded to think that the rest of the owners are just sitting back there willing to compromise and Richardson is screwing it up. If they didn't support him in this, it wouldn't be happening.

My bo cott will continue. Thanks happy panther.

They just built a popeyes, here, in Greensboro...I haven't been back to Bojangles since haha.

Anyways, Oh gosh. I hope he didnt say that to Peyton, but I have no doubt in my mind that he did. That's embarassing, and I'm losing all trust and getting sicker of the man. You don't belittle a man's intelligence like that. That was disrespectful if it's indeed true that he did say that to Peyton.

Players talk, and I dont think JR is the most popular man in those player circles. This is going to get ugly, and no matter the outcome, I see us(the Panthers) being on the losing end no matter what. I just hope this doesnt effect us longterm, but I have a bad feeling it probably will...

This thread is boring. All I know is, I wouldn't want to be on the other side of the negotiating table from Jerry Richardson. He might at times appear nice, mean, arrogant, appeasing, doddering, alert, distracted, or obnoxious. But I'm betting that at all times he's doing exactly what he needs to in order to win. And he's probably tons better at it than someone who's gotten a free ride through life by learning to kick a football through goalposts.

The owners are only united to a point. Some really really want to get a deal done.

I bet JR becomes less of the voice if the owners between March 4th and mid August.

I'm sure they all would rather get a deal done, they stand to make more money should one get done. Some have set up more in the case of a lockout, but they won't be making much profit by sitting around with no season. They just want a deal done that is more favorable towards them, hence the approach they are taking.

It's true, we only know one side of the story and we're hearing it from someone who would be motivated to make JR and the owners look bad.

We don't know what the tone of the meeting was up until that point, or what Manning's tone was... maybe he had it coming?

Intelligent people and grownups can use deductive reasoning and decide what is likely and what is not.

While you can't prove it happened it sure seems likely

+1

I believe things pretty much happened the way Jay said it did for the simple fact JR had that exact same attitude during his press conference earlier this year.... Basically this is my chart, this is the money, if you don't understand that then you are stupid. That's what I got from his press conference, so it would not surprise me at all to hear JR responded that way towards both Brees, and Manning.... His actions the pass year gives me no reason to doubt anypart of that statement Jay made.

It's been reported in multiple media outlets this past year what JR is concentrating on, and his attitude towards the players/lockout. I don't think all of tghe media, these other players and insiders would all pick JR of all the owners to lie and pick on.

Though I may side with the owners, I personally do not agree with JR and his tactics... as I do not believe that type of negotiating and stubburness are gonna get us anywhere close to a new CBA.

So you and your giant brain have decided that you win the argument because your opinion of "what's likely", is more right than mine? That's kind of childish for a big ole grown up man, don't you think?

It could very well be that JR is playing the bad cop, or that he's just being an asshole. Then again, it could be that a player is using the media to embellish his side of the story in order to make the players union look good in the public eye. Either way, my money is on JR to come out on top in the end.
