ouch dude

Total embarrassment

lol not a SINGLE source was named in any of those quotes. just a bunch of ..and from one player who attended the meeting.. which means he could be talking out of his ass and no one can prove him wrong. gotta love baseless claims.

People want to make JR as the bad guy here when he's simply speaking the same thing EVERY OWNER IN THE NFL IS THINKING. That's if he's even saying these things, when there hasn't been any recordings released from the actual meeting, and zero sources have been named. The only real information regarding the meeting that has come out is Brees saying he didn't feel disrespected by JR.

Yeah must be a conspiracy, No truth to it at all.

I'm sure there is some truth to it. I'd like to see some of it though, because I sure as hell won't take the word by some random yahoo columnist spouting out quotes with no legitimate sources trying to make a name for himself, or anything written on profootballtalk.

With that scumbag Smith leading the charge for the NFLPA, you honestly think he wouldn't be fabricating some of this to drag the owners names through the mud?

I think we have moved past the "Smith is fabricating all of this" stage.

JR is either off his rocker or playing the bad cop a little to well.

Or maybe it's just that Jerry owes much of his success to the NFL as an organization. He respects the league and above his own franchise that has made him who he is today, upholds what the NFL has established as "in their best interest." Without the NFL, there is no Carolina, might he think to give back to a business that granted him with an expansion franchise some years ago? Doesn't seem too senile to me. Mr. Richardson handles his franchise and business with class and ethics.

The owners made too many concessions in 2006. JR's job is to be a bullheaded, stubborn asshole in these negotiations. He was voted as the head of the owners to spearhead these negotiations, he is playing a role that the other owners put him into a position to do. He is the bad cop for the owners. If there was any serious dissension amongst the owners based on JR's stance then we would know about it. They have, up until this point appeared as a united front, and that alone should let you know where the other owners stand.

Well said

Excellent question. Very easy answer though.

Open the books and show!

How do you negotiate profit splits if the costs are not shared between the negotiating parties? duh.

Work for a privately owned company and ask them to show you their books....you are more likely to be shown the door than the books.

People just do not understand businesses.

What employees make has ZERO to do with how much revenue or profit a company makes....plain and simple.

I can't believe people are goofy enough to think free agents won't sign here over something that's being related second hand by a guy who wasn't even there.

Heck, the Bengals, Bills and Raiders can still sign free agents despite being among the worst run organizations in the league. But people think guys are going to turn down millions of dollars just because "he was so mean to Peyton" :frown2:

We just signed a head coach who has repeatedly said one of the reasons he signed was that he was impressed with Richardson. Players who play here love him, and don't give me "party line" because their tune doesn't change when they leave here either.

Reality: Free agents being willing to sign here will have a lot more to do with Ron Rivera and what he and his staff are able to accomplish than it will anything said by Jerry Richardson during these negotiations.

I agree, furthermore when you have unions and owners this type of work stoppage is to be expected it may take some time but will be worked out.

Yeah and when the NBA players got the NBA owners to show them the books, the players dismissed the books as being phony anyways... so they're not even going to play that game.

Bullshit.

JR has the guts to tell these overpaid children that they are employees. They show up, perform a task, and draw a paycheck. They are NOT entitled to 50% of the value of the franchise.

If they want the rights of owners, they should take some of those millions they are making and invest in the teams.

These owners have invested hundreds of millions of their own wealth and debt. They pay for ALL of the operating costs of the organization. Yet, the players (fuging employees) think they are ENTITLED to over 50% of the revenue stream for said organization.

These unions are what is wrong with our economy today. They serve no purpose but to force ownership to OVERPAY.

A guy in Detroit should not make $75 an hour to push around a broom....and these players shoudl not make $15-$20M for playing a game.

If they don't like it, I hear that McDonalds is hiring.
