JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

Based on his infamous press conference last month I can totally see JR saying something like that... it's a shame. He's continuing to come off as a bitter old man.

That's what I got from this as well, I just hope even MORE people don't start to look down on us as a franchise because of his greedy ass.

See, everybody takes everything context. Some kicker who wasn't even at the meeting says something and everyone goes berserko... I think people gotta let Richardson do his thing and stop worrying about it. Whether we cry and scream or not has no affect on the negotiations and they will get done eventually, whether there is a season or not.

That's good for him, but he still wasn't in the meeting and fed BS to the media. it's all a play for PR.

He was on the 2 hour conference call afterward where what was said was discussed.

I don't disagree that it's a negotiation play (don't know if it's BS as you say). Just as much as JR being condescending is also a negotiation play.

I’ve since spoken with two people who witnessed the interaction and gotten a more detailed report of what went down.

Among other things, Richardson became so angry at Sean Morey(notes) after the recently retired player cited a slew of statistics on player safety and average career length that the Panthers’ owner snapped, “You guys made so much [expletive] money – if you played three years in the NFL, you should own your own [expletive] team.”

He's going off the rails

At that point, as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and several of Richardson’s fellow owners cringed, league representatives suggested that the two sides take a break.

“It was bad from the start,” said one player who attended the session. “[Richardson] opened the meeting by describing how he was almost annoyed how we would ask for that meeting on their busiest weekend of the year. And I’m thinking, ‘Your team finished 2-14. You shouldn’t be that busy. Why are you worrying about how busy you are during Super Bowl weekend?’ ”

ouch dude

So in your illustrious example, what happens if a business can no longer sustain the model that it has utilized for less than a decade with disastrous results? Should the masses dictate that the owner capitulate to their demands and continue to run the industry into the ground?

Also what he forgot to add to his long winded speach is that the NFLPA has been stone walling for several months now waiting on litigation instead of negotiating. So they are at more fault then the owners. One could also say that only moving 1% on a deal is also a stonewall move.
