JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

This again? :frown2:

In 2010, Richardson dumped a lot of bad contracts and released veterans in an attempt to force John Fox to play younger players (something he'd refused to do). Prior to the season, he also told John Fox he was free to leave, but Fox made no effort to seek employment elsewhere. Richardson could have fired him, but that would have meant paying two coaching staffs at once, not a good idea with a lockout pending.

Yeah, 2010 sucked, but we have a new head coach who's energized a lot of folks and we have the number one pick in the draft. No one with a brain believes we'll be cheap again after last year because Richardson has never been cheap before. People who believe that one year in a unique situation trumps fifteen years of normal business operation are thinking with their emotions rather than their brains.

I swear, some folks on here act like 2010 is going to last forever :nonod:

That's all well and good, but not one thing you mentioned has anything to do with him focusing his efforts in 2010 to having a winning football team.

Didn't say I believe he would keep the same philosophy...just pointing out the fact that in 2010, JR went cheap and winning was not a priority. It's moreso a response to this

Yeah, he went cheap, as far as not signing expensive FA's and dumping aging veterans, but everybody on this board agreed that the offense would still be pretty good, while the defense would suffer. That is not the way it happened though. It was the offense that was the worst in the league, while the defense hung in there pretty well, despite constantly being put in horrible situations by the offense. They did look worse towards the end of the year, but what did you expect, after such a demoralizing year and having nothing left to play for. Nobody saw that coming, including JR.

If you were the one and only fan who accurately predicted this would happen though, feel free to show me a link and I will gladly admit that I'm wrong.

Either way, I doubt that last year's record has much to do with how JR conducts himself during these negotiations.

And FTR, since when does spending more money guarantee more wins anyway? The Steelers and Colts rarely spend big money of FA's and the Eagles are always dumping veterans right before they have to. Meahwhile the Redskins are always signing big name FA's to big contracts and they haven't been any better than the Panthers over the last 10 years.

What's to negotiate?

You want star talent or scrubs that nobody will pay to see?

Do you actually think any of these players are willing to walk away from the NFL to have jobs that they are qualified for? About the time the paychecks don't come in for players, you are going to see major infighting among the NFLPA.

Hey....don't like making millions a year to play a game? Feel free to go get that $10 an hour job as a Walmart Greeter.

Exactly there is a reason they are called the owners! Not the managers, not the grounds keepers, but the fuging owners. If they say no football then there's no football. If they say they need more money then you take a pay cut to insure your job. If not then settle with the fact you will not work.

I've been listening to ESPN radio today, Cowherd and Vanpelt have been talking about Jerry Richardson talking down to Manning and Brees all day. From what they have said, Jerry was asking Payton and Drew if he needed to teach them how to understand accounting 101. WOW, Jerry is on a roll huh? This could get UGLY folk's.

Cowher was on the side of the Owner's. He said he did'nt know of any company that give's more than half of the earning's to the employee's. But he was'nt standing up for Richardson, think he said that Richardson's antic's won't help get a deal done. I missed Mike and Mike.

On mike and mike today one of the guys said the panthers stock was falling. That we would be worse next year than we were this year.

Sheesh

lol talk about speaking with emotion and not logic

whatever, they can insult JR all the want. doesn't change the fact the Panthers have been in the upper half of NFL teams since coming into the league. one terrible season certainly doesn't define a franchise.
