JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

I am sure the Owners are smart enough to display a hint of "reasonableness" to avoid the violation.

These guys are not idiots.

No offense, but if you know this, I am sure them and their legal advisers know this.

The NFL believes they are in the right and that they got screwed in 1996. They believe they can turn back the clock without showing the books. If the owners can't show losses, then they can't take back money and reduce players salaries. Without showing economic stress, you can not simply reduce union worker wages.

The NLRB will review all of the following once the owners force their offer through.

"Prior bargaining history, parties' willingness to make concessions, character of exchanged proposals and demands, dilatory tactics used during negotiations, conditions imposed by parties as necessary to reaching an agreement, unilateral changes made durig the bargaining process in conditions subject ot bargaining, communications by employer to individual employees, any unfair labor practices committed during bargaining."

Simply threatening a lockout without making concessions was enough to show bad faith and raise the NLRB's eyebrows. Richardson had better tone it down and realize that this is not Hardee's and he doesn't always get it his way....

I'm a Panthers fan first....but if I hope that the next JR has diarhea of the mouth again...that some players. Brees/Manning/whoever comes back when JR talks down to them about not knowing how to read a financial report, that JR, as an owner of a 2-14 team, must not know s**t about how to run a successful team.

As long as everyone's cool about being personal.

You're the biggest monkey of them all.

Richardson didn't care one way or the other whether the Panthers won. He was more concerned about the CBA. He sold off all his debt and prepared for the lockout. He left a lame duck coach who's contract was expiring in charge and let him fall on the sword. Richardson knew EXACTLY what he was doing. He wanted to show the NFL that you don't have to spend to win.....well how did that work out for you Richardson?

Losing 8 starters and not replacing them with comparable would kill ANY NFL team. Saying the defense did well, during a 2-14 season where they spent the majority of the game on the field, is about the stupidest thing I've heard yet.

Whatever dude, I don't remember you here screaming about how our offense had no chance after he released those players. In fact, I'm guessing that you jumped for joy when Delhomme was released. I guess it's pretty easy to make these claims with 20/20 hindsight though.

I don't care what you say. JR wants to win. Yes, he was setting himself up for a possible lockout, but that doesn't mean the he actually wanted or expected to have the worst offense in the league, and that's what killed us, not the defense. He did what he had to do to make sure he still has a team in the coming years and you would have done the same.

I can't believe people are goofy enough to think free agents won't sign here over something that's being related second hand by a guy who wasn't even there.

Heck, the Bengals, Bills and Raiders can still sign free agents despite being among the worst run organizations in the league. But people think guys are going to turn down millions of dollars just because "he was so mean to Peyton" :frown2:

We just signed a head coach who has repeatedly said one of the reasons he signed was that he was impressed with Richardson. Players who play here love him, and don't give me "party line" because their tune doesn't change when they leave here either.

Reality: Free agents being willing to sign here will have a lot more to do with Ron Rivera and what he and his staff are able to accomplish than it will anything said by Jerry Richardson during these negotiations.

The problem with the Raiders, Bills, and Bengals is that they HAVE to overpay for free agents to overcome the "suck to play there" factor. Some players would probably settle for a little less pay to play for a Patriots or Steelers to get that opportunity for a ring.

The Bengals, Raiders and Bills also tend to have incompetent coaching staffs and lousy drafts. Heck, the Bengals are a level of continued failure that our team isn't even close to.

As I said, what happens from here on out will have a lot more to do with Ron Rivera than Jerry Richardson.

JR did not care about winning in 2010

This again? :frown2:

In 2010, Richardson dumped a lot of bad contracts and released veterans in an attempt to force John Fox to play younger players (something he'd refused to do). Prior to the season, he also told John Fox he was free to leave, but Fox made no effort to seek employment elsewhere. Richardson could have fired him, but that would have meant paying two coaching staffs at once, not a good idea with a lockout pending.

Yeah, 2010 sucked, but we have a new head coach who's energized a lot of folks and we have the number one pick in the draft. No one with a brain believes we'll be cheap again after last year because Richardson has never been cheap before. People who believe that one year in a unique situation trumps fifteen years of normal business operation are thinking with their emotions rather than their brains.

I swear, some folks on here act like 2010 is going to last forever :nonod:

Didn't say I believe he would keep the same philosophy...just pointing out the fact that in 2010, JR went cheap and winning was not a priority. It's moreso a response to this

I don't care what you say. JR wants to win.
