JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

The players are also the product. Makes a big difference.

If the players want that type of control, they should step up and be required to invest their own money into the teams. Then, they will have the financial risk to go along with the rewards that they want.

Until then, they are employees.

I love it. Someone if finally standing up to these spoiled ass players.

They are paid millions of dollars to play a game. If they don't like it, then let them get real jobs like everyone else. They will soon figure out just how damn good they have it.

Sorry, there is nothing fake about their jobs. The work they put in everyday does deserve compensation. The demand for their expertise determines their compensation. You act like playing football at this level is stress free and fun like it was when you played with your family in the backyard or something. Getting hit by Ray Lewis is not like playing scrabble.

Trying to compare these negotiations to slavery or servitude is pathetic at its best.....even for the likes of you.

These players are paid millions of fuging dollars to play a game. They want to be treated like partial owners of these teams...even though they have no personal investment or risk in them.

They are VERY, VERY, VERY well paid employees of a company.

There isn't a FINANCIAL investment by the players, but to say there isn't a risk for the players every single time the step on the field is ASININE! You probably just meant financial, but get it right.

To make it worse our jack-off owner tells Payton he doesn't know anything about player safety. I think it says something that fans don't want to see an 18 game schedule because they are more concerned for player safety.

Well, Manning has went his entire career so far without suffering any kind of major injury that would make him miss entire games.

They should have someone in there talking about player safety that has actually had to miss entire seasons or games due to injury.

The average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes. It's an intense 11 minutes, but the players and safety advocates are over reacting a bit.

Adding 2 games, or 22 minutes, of actual play to the regular season is fine with me if they subtract two preseason games.

JR would not come out and say something like that without reason, My guess is Manning completely missed a point on the revenue report which are extremely complex documents that even people with above average intelligence struggle with. JR is probably growing tired off sitting down with jocks who think they know as much about the business as JR does. Its arrogance on their part to sit down with a man like JR and pretend they are his equal.

They aren't.

I think they would all be better off by letting their agents/attorneys deal with the owners. I promise you they would not cry about being treated like an opposing entity in a complex negotiation.

Correct. Its the same reason you don't rep yourself in court.

“[Richardson] was extremely condescending to them, especially toward Peyton,” a source said. “[Richardson] was the only person on either side who was contentious. Everybody else was respectful. They might have said, ‘I disagree with your point,’ but at least they were respectful. [Richardson] was not.”

Apparently, Richardson was particularly sarcastic when Manning started to talk about players’ safety. At one point, Richardson evidently said, “What do you know about player safety?”

Probably taken out of context

Football is the product. I don't watch it to see manning or brees. I watch it to see my team win

So if we continued to put subpar players in Panthers unis year after year, putting in any old player that would play for cheap, you'd march out and plop down thousands for season tickets every year?

Of course not.

NFL players are not replaceable like entry level accountants.

While one player usually doesn't make or break a team, the talent in the NFL is why I enjoy it.

Without the best of the best on the field I wouldn't bother.

I agree, I doubt JR would come out of nowhere with comments like that. I'm sure he's irritated by guys like Manning and Brees questioning revenue figures. It's important to remember that all these accounts of what was said are coming from one side of the table so far. I would like to see JR or someone from the owners side of the table respond to this, since a rep already suggested it's not an accurate account of what happened.
