JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

Apparently, Richardson was particularly sarcastic when Manning started to talk about players’ safety. At one point, Richardson evidently said, “What do you know about player safety?”

What what does Peyton really now about player safety? He doesnt tackle and if he comes close to taking a hit he falls down.

What I want to know is what happened to the NFLPA saying they would play this out in the media. Get your panties out of a wad and get back to the table.

Carry on Mr Richardson and fight a good fight.

OMFG!!!!!!!1!1!!!!!!!11!!!! Crotchety Old Bastard is crotchety. Teh wurldz iz gonna indz imatellinya!

Players not competent enough to even negotiate their own contracts have no business taking part in a discussion about the disposition of the league's contract. Don't really care what their name is. At a league bargaining table, it's "Rook", especially if you're not even the player rep for your team.

The sooner the players face the fact that the owners have them over a barrel, the sooner football will return. I'd much rather have the minimum to 2x minimum wage vets have a bigger say than the Mannings and Bresuses anyway.

And by the way, bringing hugely popular players to the negotiating table is an NFLPA PR stunt anyway. If I were Jerry, I might be offended, too. Of course, I'm only an apprentice C.O.B. From Jerry, much could I learn.

More on this from Jason Cole @ Yahoo Sports:

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson mocked quarterbacks Peyton Manning(notes) and Drew Brees(notes) during a Feb. 5 negotiating session with the NFL Players Association, says three league sources, a sign of disrespect that the union hopes solidifies its members in the pending labor battle with the NFL.

“[Richardson] was extremely condescending to them, especially toward Peyton,” a source said. “[Richardson] was the only person on either side who was contentious. Everybody else was respectful. They might have said, ‘I disagree with your point,’ but at least they were respectful. [Richardson] was not.”

If you all are shocked by Richardsons words, you would not last long in a board room.

These players who know very little about business compared to JR should not expect to be coddled by him. This isn't the locker room, this is the board room. They are opposing interests in negotiation. If the players are going to cry about being treated like people in business and not celebrities, maybe they should let their attorneys speak for them.

Generally, you would be right. But, although JR was rich before the NFL, he's forgetting where the bulk of his money is coming from. He shouldn't bite the hand that feeds him, but everyone can keep cheering him on as he runs our franchise and the NFL into the gutter with this disrespectful attitude.

Just saw that on twitter and listened to it...and to be honest if there is any shred of truth to that then I'm making a case for support of the players. Again, if this is true, its obvious that the owners know that they are in a win-win situation and are abusing it...they don't even seem to care about negotiating but simply getting exactly what they want.

GOOD FOR JR!!!! Please keep it up! I hope he did say that, I hope he gets even more rude and meaner.

These spoiled assed overpaid punks need to be brought back down to earth and in a hard way. No employer I ever worked for kissed my ass like the owners have done the players.

fug em up JR!!!

Trying to compare these negotiations to slavery or servitude is pathetic at its best.....even for the likes of you.

These players are paid millions of fuging dollars to play a game. They want to be treated like partial owners of these teams...even though they have no personal investment or risk in them.

They are VERY, VERY, VERY well paid employees of a company.

I was I can't see how any player can respect Jerry Richardson when he disrespects the best player in the game today for absolutely no reasons whatsoever. That reflects so badly on our team that it isn't even funny.

Peyton Manning should not have been there. He has had his huge pay day. Same with Brees. The NFLPA should be sending the 4-5 year guys that are on special teams making league mins.

Screw Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. The only reason they were there is because it would make a huge PR splash. And it has.
