JR condescending to Peyton Manning during CBA meeting?

Players who join and partake in these discussion are representing the rest of their union, it is their role to know what is going with the business. So no, it's not the same.

If you want to compare it to something compare in to teacher/union/police/automotive representatives of their respective unions. I guess they all do not know anything either.

My point is that anyone sitting at the table has a responsibility to know what they are talking about. If they don't, then I don't care about how their feelings get hurt.

And it's not "joining in and partaking in the discussion" when you've demanded to be in the seat that you are without knowing the business side first. You cried for this... man up and read up on your poo before opening your mouth. Be happy that you had a golden deal prior to now and face reality about your situation and how that deal played a part in the league's situation as it is. Just because you HAD it great, doesn't mean that the gravy train lasts forever.

they could simply be using him as a lightning rod

that way, they get the deal they want, and he looks like a jackass that nobody wants to play for, less competition to get in-demand free agents

That's a little too "tinfoil hat" for me.

Guys, I really would take everything coming from a NFLPA representative with a grain of salt. Sure the things were likely said, but you have absolutely no way to tell what was said before that prompted the statement.

That's part of this that nobody seems to get.

I don't care which side is right or wrong. I don't care which side wins and loses. I just hope they play football next year.

Me too.

why not it's not going to hurt the perception of the other owners

and fwiw JR's probably the one guy that's thinking of this whole thing more of in a business sense than anybody else. That's not really a problem for him because our team is rebuilding. Other franchises who are those 2 or 3 players away from winning the big game probably have a little more incentive to host games this next season

The stated point that JR might be viewing this as purely a business decision shows that what the fans care about is minute. Business is about P&L's, not fan appreciation. Yes, he needs fan attendance to be successful, but the big business NFL has been proven out to be a product that people will pay for, regardless. Not to mention he has his PSL golden parachute to protect him.

I don't buy the notion that players are going to hold this against Richardson more than the others anymore than I buy that owners will keep a record of what free agents pissed them off in the process and refuse to offer them contracts.

When all is said and done, it's still a business.

I agree that I don't think players will hold it against JR as far as accepting an offer from the Panthers. They want to make money just as much as he does, so if his offer is the biggest (Yeah, LOL), I think they would definitely take it.

It's a little easier to buy than "I don't care how much money he's offering. I refuse to play for a guy that was condescending to Peyton!"

sorry haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if someone posted this already

All I can say is smh. I don't know Peyton's reputation, but it sounds like Richardson was being a dickhead. As much as I hate the Saint, Brees seems like a very nice guy as well. Cmon Jerry the Panthers are better than this. I feel ashamed.
