10 reasons panthers should draft Newton...

What would we have to give up for Kyle Orton (If Denver would even part with him)... ?

What about Vince Young, for that matter?

I know it seems crazy but I feel like anything could happen this offseason.

I would much rather the Panthers draft Cam than trade away picks for Orton.

I am not necessarily against Vince Young if they do pass on Cam. I would rather that than trading picks for Orton. Now if they think Cam can be the guy, then I would rather that than Young.

I think we should draft a QB because thier's lesser talent FO at QB then DT with

S.Rogers

A. haynesworth-Yes he will get cut

T.Harris - lost starting job and wants out(best years were under R.Rivera)

Even getting 1 of them will sure up or DL

I still think we should trade down take best available QB and the DT from baylor with or new 2 round pick,on a side note if there's no new rookie pay scale we wont draft QB (Cheap Owner) and we cant trade down (NO team wants to pay 70 Million Guaranteed)

BAD YEAR TO HAVE #1 PICK

Who are these QBs that are more NFL ready?

Already addressed

And can you tell me what in their skillset allows you to know ahead of time they will be a success on the next level? Keep in mind they played in those systems against "college competition".

Either strawman or lack of reading comprehension.

Never stated that I could predict who will be successful. I merely stated that Cam is all potential because of the system he plays in while others such as Luck, Bradford etc already have some NFL type skills.

Cam might be a stud buts he's a project and we already have projects.

Just my opinion

now that the heartbreak of not getting luck has subsided, I have thoroughly thought about the possibility of taking any QB (cam or gabbert) with the top pick, and honestly, I am all for it. as long as the kid works hard and doesn't touch the field at all next year, I say draft his ass and let him learn.

I am now about 86% fine with taking either Cam Newton or Blaine Gabbert first overall

Here is the ultimate question:

1) If Newton works out we have a franchise QB for the next 10 years if it doesn't then we will be set back wt least 2-3 more years...so is this worth the risk?

I read this all the time.

The Panthers are already set back.

Years, in fact, for finding every reason in the world to not draft Flacco or Rodgers or place an xx here.

To be a player in this league, there has to be a QB, we don't have one.

The Jets pulled the trigger on Sanchez when many thought they were foolish to do so, what do you think those same people think now?

Think the Jets would be in the hunt with Cleo Lemon.

I'm just saying, they have the pick, do it, just do it. If they screw up, who cares, they-ll be 2-14 again, and Luck will come to save them.

Yes, I'm being facetious as if there is one name I hope to never hear again associated with the Panthers, it's Luck. That ship sailed.

8.Outside the box-Okay, seriously aren't we tired of drafting safe to decent players??? I come from the school you have to be in it to win it.Drafting "image" starters doesn't push you into the Elite.

Every point is legit but this one. All of our first rounders have been excellent players. I have no idea what you mean about "image" starters but in know way are we drafting wrong. Drafting the biggest name is just silly.

I love all the first round picks by the panthers. Don't get me wrong they all have been core players but, when i say outside the box the panthers draft the best player on the board alot of the time. i seen another poster talk about skiping on rodger flaco and so on, this is exactly what i mean.

I feel the franchise afraid to take risks, not saying drafting the best player on the board is a bad thing. I feel at the QB spot if you want a good one you have to "go get it" not bother with what everyone thinks and take chances.

Elite caliber QBs rarely are found after round 1. On a side not cam's stock is going through the roof and won't be around beyond the top 5.

i would rather draft fairley, start clausen, and go 1-15 again than draft newton. that way we get andrew luck and fairley. i mean most people are talking about benching newton for a couple years anyways so he can learn...andrew luck can make a sooner impact despite getting drafted a year later. plus, i just don't think newton will be very good, thats just a gut feeling though...

    • You and I both know there isn't a coach we could or can still hire that can "fix" Bryce Young. Even at mighty Alabama with one of the best modern coaches in college football history Mac Jones was still a better QB than Bryce Young. Mac Jones.... We already know how you feel about Canales on a personal level so in that regard you wanting him fired is not news. You don't have to disguise it behind this shroud of rabble about not fixing Bryce Young. To his credit he somehow had us competive against the Chiefs and the Eagles on the road with #9. But no coaching staff can overcome their starting QB turning the ball over 4 times. We definitely have developed some of our younger offensive pieces. And as far as Evero goes he has earned criticism and if he's fired so be it but in his defense many of us said in the offseason this defensive roster was a disaster waiting to happen given the resources we spent on the offense while neglecting the defense. That was Dan Morgan's plan. He swung too hard toward offense to salvage the Bryce Young trade. That's on him. We can scream about XL all we want but at least he's actually been on the field for the most part. The Brooks pick was a luxury pick at the time and now it is a Hurney level blunder. Dan Morgan has gotten a lot of early praise here when in reality he's unequivocally deserving of significant criticism. But if you say that some people get up in arms because he's a former Panther. Big whoop. He has just as much to prove this upcoming season as Canales. That's why to me in my own personal opinion I say one more season and then if it's more of the same say goodbye to both.
    • It's a decent vid with compelling reasons for his opinion. But, my thing is is that you simply can't draft McMillan thinking he is a surefire WR1. There are questions. His 40---rightly or wrongly---will play a part. I'd think that his splits (which will speak more to his game translating to the pros in my mind) are more important.  As much as you're trying to sell us that McMillan is a don't-overthink-it-type-of-player, I wouldn't say that's the case. Workouts will play a part in all of this.  At this point, I like the thought of Tetairoa. That's as much as I can give you right now.
