Cuts Possibly Coming Monday

Recommended Posts

BTW, did a little checking. They have to be in compliance as of Feb 27 this year (the start of the new league year, date of which varies, usually it is early March):

I believe if the team is not in compliance then, they incur fines.

This is an old article, but I don't think that has changed.

Read on down a little further. Question 1.13

Hopefully, the CBA gets extended and there are no uncapped seasons. I would hate to see the NFL turn into MLB

The Panthers have done well in both so Im not really worried. Teams like AZ and Detroit as well as Cinci as well as some others would suffer greatly.

Not sure what you're referring to but the Panthers have never had to deal with a cap free NFL, it was established in 1994. The cap has been a key to why they were able to become a competitive team so quickly.

If the cap were to drop even for a season the balance of power would quickly sway heavily back to the old school big money teams.... If Washington, Dallas, SF etc were able to clear their books it would set parody back 10 years.

It would be interesting to see Jerruh and Dan Snyder trying to out bid each other.

But I don't think you'll ever see the kind of spending in San Fransisco like you did when Eddie Debartelo jr. bought championships for the 49ers in the late 80's/early 90's. The piece of dog squeeze Debartelo got himself indicted with extortion and gambling problems in Louisiana and was banished from the 49er organizatrion. Since that time you've seen what it's like for the 49ers on a level playing field without a spoiled prick owner who buys players like there's no tomorrow.

Recently I've seen reports DeBartelo wants to buy the Bucs, hopefully the NFL will keep this blight on football where he bleongs, on the outside looking in.

I'd like to restructure Lucas and keep Hackett if possible, unless we can upgrade from him at that 3/4 WR spot.

...we just restructured him last year.

he's on his way out, but merely a cap casualty.

Hackett did absolutely nothing this year, he's got no durability at all.

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
