Jake Delhomme to be released...again.

All I did was count year's that he started all games. Because there weren't very many seasons that he played much to give a good sample size. I stated that from the beginning. But if you want me to count all those awful back up years he had with ratings in the 60's I will. It'll just make Beuerlein look worse though.

The whole point about this whole thing was about who was the best QB on the PANTHERS. Until you can grasp that , we need not to go much further

Those numbers are only a reflection of how long he's played. Not how good he is.

Eh, I don't agree. I don't think I'll convince you, but between Jake's stats and his wins I put him out ahead. Don't get me wrong. Beuerlein had a nice three year run, and a phenomenal single year, but I don't think what he accomplished here at the time puts him above Jake. Perhaps if he hadn't been kicked to the curb...

Well look at Favre. He has the most TDs of any QB in history. But he certainly isnt the best QB to ever play. Unless you talk to John Madden.

So you think that while he played for the Panther's he was magically better than his norm? So what if he had the single best statistical season. His body of work does not make him a better quarterback, Panther or Career wise than Jake.

Beuerlein's Career TD % 4.4, INT % 3.4, Rating 80.1

Delhomme's Career TD% 4.3 INT % 3.5 Rating 81.2

He is one of the best QBs in history.

Honestly though, there is no argument Jake was the most successful if not the best. I personally think he was the best QB we had. I understand why someone might think Beuerlein was, I just don't agree.

bring up the numbers while both played for the Panthers. That's what the whole discussion is about. Or are you avoiding it because you don't like the outcome?

Here let me help:

Beuerlein: Cmp%: 60.4, TD%: 5.0, INT%: 2.9, QBrate: 87.7

Delhomme: Cmp%: 59.2, TD%: 4.5, INT%: 3.3, QBrate: 82.6

Jake was better no doubt, Killerkat did you loose some money on the zona game or something? It's clear you don't think much of Jake's career here, what did you think in say early Feb. of 2004? I'am not saying Steve was a bad QB, and he did'nt have the talent around him Jake did, still bustin your chop's a little man, all in fun.

Meh, Beuerlein played here for so little time. I just can't say he's the best quarterback we've had. He had the best year of any quarterback we've had, sure... but I don't think he was our best quarterback.

Stats only tell you so much. Can you order these guys from top to bottom in terms of QB rating? Marino, Culpepper, Beuerlein, Delhomme, Garcia, Elway?

Wins aren't everything. Neither are stats. Some place in the middle, you can make better opinion calls about the best QBs. It's never easy though.

This, argument is ridiculous. Beuerlein had one, ONE good year, in his entire Career. Every other year was statistically average or worse. Delhomme, besides the one year when he just forgot how to play, was always average, with some above average seasons. Over a career they are statistically the SAME GUY. The only difference is that Jake actually had some modicum of success while being a QB, Beuerlein's only claim to fame was one really good year in a pass happy offensive scheme that was good enough to make people like you claim that he was the best Panther qb ever irrationally.

Why does every Jake thread turn into a "prove he was a good QB" thread? The dude took us places we had never been, got us all excited to be fans, and then made us all beat our heads against a wall.....

For a guy who was very emotional and gave us excitement, what else could you ask for.

Wish him the best, and if he wants to retire then I hope he does it as a Panther. If he ended up back on the roster, hell I wouldnt care. I know Jake is good for at least 5 first downs a game, which seem about 4 more than we got each game last season.
