Why in God's name would we pick Bowers #1?

Unless I missed something CJ is still a FA there is no guarantee he will be retained. And its not like the rest of our DE are proven commodities (Hardy looked good but that was only one season in a rotation no less and Brayton is best in a rotation). I think this board is overrating our DE a bit. Obviously I agree DT is our #2 propriety (behind QB) but its not like Fairley is a sure thing. Personally I would rather trade back and get Quinn but that might not be feasible.

My best possible scenario would be to trade back twice to somewhere around 15-20 pick up 2 2nds and get Poucey. Best G/C (Kalil is also a FA and it wouldn't hurt to have some flexibility and depth) possible and as closed to a sure thing as there is in this draft. I wouldn't mind Bowers as I have watched him since he got to Clemson and he is an athlete that can straight up manhandle the guy opposite him but he can also be inconsistent.

I also wouldn't mind Newton at #1 but I dont see that happening. About the only guy I would be upset with there would be Gabbert as I don't even think he should be in round 1 consideration let alone #1.

Yea, a big hell no to Bowers or Gabbert. Green, Peterson, Dareus, Fairley or even Newton I wouldn't have negative emotions about, but no thank you to Bowers or Gabbert.
