TCU was a great team and they beat OSU by 9 at home, after Oregon State matched them score for score until a bad snap and a safety, hardly a beatdown.

Nevada did beat down Cal but Nevada is the real deal as well.

And again Oregon State went on the road against a top 5 team and played okay.

When was the last time an SEC school went out of conference in the first couple weeks on the road against a top 5 team?

I remember the Pac10 coming to the SEC's house and beating that ass early in the year but the SEC is scared to leave the south east.

they dont need too, and you forgot about the acc vs sec game. when you face florida, bama, lsu, uga, miss st etc you will see plenty of comp. pac 10 cant hold the sec jock.

We're so good we only need to play ourselves and the Little10!!!!!

But they actually beat us in a bowl game this year so maybe next year we will only play the SunBelt in bowl games!!! :gnorsi:

Tennessee played Oregon, Alabama played Penn State (who ended up not being very good but was highly rated preseason), LSU played UNC (which was a top 20 team before our NCAA stuff), and Florida plays Florida State every year, Georgia plays GT every year, and South Carolina plays Clemson every year.

So I mean they do play some big out of conference games.

Also considering they usually have 3 teams in the top 10 it limits their options.

It did irritate me that Tennessee canceled their games against UNC because (basically) they are too good now to play.

Oregon went to Tennessee so that's not a big deal and in state rivalries don't count as traveling.

My question still stands.

I'll even let it slide that they don't have to be top 5, even though Oregon state play 2 top 5 teams on the road in the first 4 weeks of the season.

and who has been the bcs champ the last 5 years? yeah thought so.

When you don't play anyone good it's easy to get to the title game.

This was the most competitive game and they finally had to play the Pac10. Usually the Pac10 destroys themselves during the regular season so the SEC gets to beat up on the Little 10 and no one bothers watching.

And Nevada was pretty good. They did beat my adopted team Boise State. But come on, they barely beat BC. They are good but 12-1 is a little deceiving.

I did think Boise and TCU were legit though. But are they 25-1 if they both played in a bigger conference?? Probably not. They were good though so maybe, who knows.

lmao at the first sentence. the cpu takes in consideration who you play the entire year.not just the first 4 games. pac 10 needs a championship game.

They will have it soon.

In terms of the CPU. The CPU says all 10 Pac10 teams played a schedule harder and better than any SEC team.

Pick any Pac10 team and any SEC team and the SEC team had the easier road to the title, no doubt about it. :smash:

In state rivalries when both teams are usually in the top 25 have to count as big time non conference games.

None of the big time programs are going to schedule two or more big time non-conference games. The teams that do that are teams vying for attention so they can build a better program, like Oregon State. That is a tribute to them to play those games because it only makes their program better.

Just admit it's because the big time schools are scared of losing and they want the easiest way possible to the title.

Even when SouthernCal was at the top, they still traveled to Arkansas to open the season.

SEC just scared, that's all.

The sagarin ratings also benefit the Pac-10 because they only play 3 non-conference games. Therefore, they don't get penalized as much for the poor out of conference games that some of the other conferences do because they have 10 less games against out of conference (and generally weaker) opponents. Contrastingly, they get more of a bump when those games are against better teams.

If you count the bowl games this year when the SEC West played teams not in the SEC thy have a record of 27-2.

Compare that to the top 6 of the Pac-10 (which doesn't include Cal who played Nevada) they went 15-7 against non-conference teams.

The SEC west went 4-1 in their bowl games compared to 2-2 in the PAC-10.

So I mean it is hard to say but on its face it is hard to argue that the SEC is soft and the PAC-10 is so much better.
