Cam Newton Workout Phenomenal

And WHY would he want to do that?

If Bucky Brooks, another NFL analyst who WAS there just came back and praised Newton, as did Trent Dilfer, an ESPN analyst and former Super Bowl QB, why would this naysayer launch a pretty blatant smear on the kid?

Because too much stock is put into gym short workouts.....either that or Mayock must hate blacks .....

Quick tip to the Newton apologists:

If you want to be taken seriously,

Nobody takes your analysis of a Cam Newton seriously Scot. Nobody expects you to remain a fan if we draft Cam Newton. You never did or would answer Rayzor's question. That tells everyone reading and lurking right now a lot about you. We know you're gonna bail on us.

Good God I wish people wouldnt grab their pitchforks and take it so personal when people say Cam Newton is the best QB coming out and some in the Panthers fanbase are idiots for ever questioning that. 99% of them were Andrew Luck groupies and thought he would be here this summer, so those folks are used to being wrong.

Maybe if you learned to accept any criticism of the kid what so ever and actually argued your point with facts instead of casting stones at the poster and calling them a racist you might get a better reception....

My point is that Mayock is being fair and I really don't understand why he's catching all this poo. He's right, a workout like this can only show you how athletic a guy is. It says nothing about all the intangible things that we need to know about him. We all know he's a great athlete, what we need is for Hurney and co. to sit down with him for a few hours, talking about tape, analysing plays etc. to see if he has all the tools for the job. Cam has caught a lot of poo from all of us, but I don't think any of the criticism anyone gave had to do with mechanics, arm strength or accuracy.

Dude, it just doesn't need to be said! What's so hard to understand about that?

It's not like the kid is running for a political office... the workout had some media attention, the GMs and scouts will get the tapes... it's part of the evaluation process... we KNOW this... there's no point in being an ass about it and saying, essentially, "I've seen this before, I don't need to see it. He's just going to run around in shorts and look good."

That's some fuging BS right there. I don't recall ANY analyst EVER downplaying a workout for an athlete before.

Wtf? Are we going to the polls to elect Newton as our QB?

Who gives a fug if anyone puts stock in it? It's just some bullpoo to come out and down the kids media day.

No it's to remind people that anybody can make throws in gym shorts it's what they can do in pads feeling pressure from a all out blitz that matters....

So your point is just that he's a douche rather than that he's incorrect? :D

I can live with that. I agree that Mayock could have chosen his words better. Still agree with him though.

If you stopped spewing subtle racist comments and making comments to appease to white people's fear of blacks I wouldnt call you a racist. Coming in a Cam Newton workout thread to talk about stolen laptops and potential NCAA violations tells people a lot about your character and what you value and what you're willing to do to make guys like Luck look good. How you were raised and what is important to YOU. It doesnt tell us anything about Cam.

You lose again :D

If we did it at number one, I would think it was a huge mistake. If we traded back and did it, I'd still feel it was a mistake but I wouldn't be quite as annoyed.

(heck, I think it'd be a mistake to take any QB in any round in this draft, but you already know that)

As with any other mistake the team has made in the past though, I'd hope that eventually it would be proven that they were right and I was wrong.

For the record, I was pretty ticked off when they drafted Clausen (friend who was with me at the time could tell you quite the story  ) because I felt they'd blown their shot at getting a top flight receiver. When Brandon LaFell was still there with our next pick though, I calmed down.

And for the record, KT's notion that people would actually stop being Panther fans if they drafted Newton is just plain stupid (but then, what's new?) :frown2:

I'm not sure if you enjoy being wrong, but considering how often you do it, it would make me think you must.

So saying nothing but facts about the kid makes me a racist....o.k......

yeah, you're right. Clearly an analyst shouldn't say anything if they don't have something positive to say.

Clearly we should question every black QBs intelligence and cognitive ability. Our black fans and black players at other positions on our football team dont notice that. Potential free agents dont notice that. :frown2:
