Cam Newton Workout Phenomenal

because he thinks the workout was worthless and proves nothing.

that is what I got, anyway. I didn't walk away thinking, "Gee, Mayock hates this guy," just "gee, Mayock thinks the same thing about Cam Newton that he thought before", which, uh, is kind of what many of us have been saying for some time.

So some asshole that got burned by saying JR's performance in his pro-day was the best ever, now thinks Newton's performance for his media day is worthless... gotcha.

I love it... an asshole who starts off by saying "I didn't attend the work out, I didn't see the work out, and I don't need to hear how the workout went, to tell you how it looked... " IMMEDIATELY jumps into a Jamarcus Russell comparison.

Bucky Brooks states in the video *I* linked, that Russell had leadership and work ethic issues, and what's been said of Cam points to the complete opposite.

Aren't you Mr. negative? All he's saying is that these workouts don't tell you anything that game film doesn't. I agree with him. What's the surprise here? He has a great arm, what's new? The negatives concerning him have nothing to do with his ability to throw the ball.

Or he is hoping to decrease the hype over one workout that has been meticulously planned out for weeks.....

did you even watch the video?

because in the video, he said that he thought russell's workout was the best ever but even after it he still didn't rate him as high as he went. he just doesn't put much stock in workouts.

Sorry, your juxtaposition of the negativity isn't accurate.

HE started his comments off in the negative friend. Not me.

No, of course he didn't watch it.

“The best Pro Day I ever saw as a quarterback was JaMarcus Russell. . . . I’ve never seen a quarterback throw the football like that in my life, but I still couldn’t take him in the first round — the guy doesn’t care about football. He doesn’t have the passion for the game, doesn’t have the work ethic, I don’t want him. But by the way, it was a pretty impressive Pro Day.”

Quick tip to the Newton apologists:

If you want to be taken seriously, try sticking to factual discussion rather than trying to question the character of the person you're debating. When you start making accusations about people being racist, the only thing you accomplish is to make yourself look really...stupid.

And don't give me "but they're not sticking to the facts either." Actually, they are. They just don't happen to see and/or interpret them the same way that you do. That does not make them racist.

There have been a thousand different heated arguments on this board over quarterbacks, and not all of them were black, so don't go acting like just because someone disagrees with you on Cam Newton, it means they're racist. People on here disagree angrily about Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen and Jake Delhomme too, and race has absolutely nothing to do with it.

If you want to debate, please learn to do so without making accusations for which you have no basis or evidence.

If you cannot, then you are essentially admitting that you're just not smart enough to debate on facts alone.

Or he is hoping to decrease the hype over one workout that has been meticulously planned out for weeks.....

And WHY would he want to do that?

If Bucky Brooks, another NFL analyst who WAS there just came back and praised Newton, as did Trent Dilfer, an ESPN analyst and former Super Bowl QB, why would this naysayer launch a pretty blatant smear on the kid?

My point is that Mayock is being fair and I really don't understand why he's catching all this poo. He's right, a workout like this can only show you how athletic a guy is. It says nothing about all the intangible things that we need to know about him. We all know he's a great athlete, what we need is for Hurney and co. to sit down with him for a few hours, talking about tape, analysing plays etc. to see if he has all the tools for the job. Cam has caught a lot of poo from all of us, but I don't think any of the criticism anyone gave had to do with mechanics, arm strength or accuracy.

Good God I wish people people wouldn't act like girls anytime someone criticizes a player. Be it Newton' date=' Bowers, Peterson, Green, Clausen etc etc.....[/quote']

Good God I wish people wouldnt grab their pitchforks and take it so personal when people say Cam Newton is the best QB coming out and some in the Panthers fanbase are idiots for ever questioning that. 99% of them were Andrew Luck groupies and thought he would be here this summer, so those folks are used to being wrong.
