i hate having cam newton thread bc it always come to this. why cant we just talk about football with him. why does negatives come out the wood work with this guy.

thats the nature of our fanbase FOR NOW. Guys like Cardiac hold a bitterness to guys like Cam just off general principle. Piling on and attacking their character is just what they do. I took a week off and it didnt stop.

Do you seriously think Newton is the only player - or even the only quarterback - that people bring up negatives about?

Every potential draft choice, regardless of position - and yes, regardless of race - has fans on here that support their being the #1 pick and fans that absolutely hate the idea. Because of that, both the positives and the negatives for every potential pick get thrown around plenty.

Give me one good reason why Newton's negatives should be excluded from discussion. Nobody else's are. What should his be?

Some of our fans dont like phenomenal QBs though. They like scrubs that dont deliver they can relate to and feel safe with. I trust our FO is smarter than some in our fanbase though.

I already know you haven't read many of the Gabbert threads, and I dont' blame you, the guy hasn't exactly been mr. popular around here since nobody really wants him here and only a couple people think he could actually be drafted here and they just think it's a bad idea, so...

did you see what people said about mallett? what I said about him? do you have any idea what you're talking about, or are you just comparing Newton to the hype around Luck?

Cam Newton is getting more positive hype on this board than any of the other QB candidates. You know why it seems worse? When someone like rayzor says "I don't like Gabbert and I think he could bust" nobody enters the thread and goes, "You only think that because he's WHITE!!!" Gabbert just isn't as controversial, and Mallett just isn't as captivating or interesting. Cam Newton is completely polarizing, and no, not because of race.

It's because he put up amazing stats but also had huge holes in the film available on him that makes others EXTREMELY cautious about him and fear he could end up a bust. WHY Can't people understand that? :(

also Locker has just been continually destroying his draft stock so.

Besides that wasn't your argument. You just said you have heard the "he has all the measurables argument before."

Yes as in he has all the measurables and that's it. Luck has more then just measurables, he has the the prototypical size of an NFL QB but it's the tutelage he's received from Harbaugh that make him the real deal. The experienced he's gained from an NFL level coaching staff is something most college QBs don't benefit from. Add that to Luck's incredible accuracy and his ability to "throw the receiver open" and that is why Luck is such a better prospect. Yes Jamarcus ran a pro style offense at LSU but he didn't receive the type of training that Luck has. The training a QB receives has a big impact on their success or lack there of....

Ouch, heh.

I guess I'm not the only one who thought it seemed like most of the plays he ran were one read and run.

I love it... an asshole who starts off by saying "I didn't attend the work out, I didn't see the work out, and I don't need to hear how the workout went, to tell you how it looked... " IMMEDIATELY jumps into a Jamarcus Russell comparison.

Bucky Brooks states in the video *I* linked, that Russell had leadership and work ethic issues, and what's been said of Cam points to the complete opposite.
