Cam Newton Workout Phenomenal

DRAFT NEWTON.

Honestly.......And Im being serious......Newton should no doubt be the #1 pick. Newton not only has the NFL body, but he has the skill. Yes we did draft a QB last year, and maybe Jimmy wasn't used correctly BUT, Newton is a physical monster. Our #1 need is QB. I look at it this way: Will we win the SB with Clausen at QB? My answer is no. Even if he was used incorrectly or not developed the right way, I can just tell Jimmy doesnt have what it takes to win. Newton might have what we need to if not win the SB, at least make the Playoffs(down the line 1,2,3 years from now). We need big plays and clearly we lacked a huge playmaker last tear.

look at the source......Trent Dilfer

Check out what he thought about Bradford heading into the draft

In a recent appearance on ESPN Radio’s St. Louis affiliate, ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer gave a candid assessment of the 2008 Heisman winner: “In my opinion, he’s not even close to the best player in this draft.”

Wow. Trent, please elaborate.

“I think he has major, major challenges ahead of him,” Dilfer said. “Sam Bradford is not Mark Sanchez. He is not Matthew Stafford. He is not Matt Ryan. I would say he’s not even Joe Flacco.”

, and that selecting Bradford could end up being a “catastrophic” mistake for the Rams.

Sanchez led the Jets to the Playoffs in his rookie season. Joe Flacco did too. Both of them are in divisions with tough opponents at that.

From that stand point, I'd say he got that assessment of Braford right. They failed to reach the playoffs in a division where being 7-9 meant a playoff berth.

Now, the Stafford comment is a bit off, but Stafford has been plagued with injury, so who knows if he could have been another rookie playoff leader had he been able to stay healthy.

I certainly wouldn't say Braford was as bad as he cautioned. Definitely not "catastrophic", but this doesn't mean his assessment is total crap.

Because if he was just blindly throwing into coverage without making reads, he wouldn't have a 32TD to 5INT record..

newton didn't throw 32 tds to 5 ints.

plus int to td ratio is kinda of limited usefulness. most stats are useless. but if you want to look at ints thrown, better to look at attempts to compare it to.

in any event anyone who says cam newton's stats aren't impressive stats in college is full of poo.

most people who aren't so high on him dont really care about college stats though.

the bigger deal from all this is that he has committed to attending the combine today (tho not what he would do there, but whatever).

tbh I don't care what Trent Dilfer thinks of him, but if you do, you can check out this story, and I was more interested in what he was doing in the videos:

Hmm... you are correct. Not sure where the site I got that stat from was at..

He threw 30 TDs to 7 INT...

Guess you proved me wrong? :smilielol5:

Ok, that's fine... but don't sit here and say he DIDN'T make reads, or was only a ONE-READ QB in college, otherwise, his COLLEGE stats wouldn't be what they are.

but he didn't make reads and he was a one read take off and run QB. that's why he was so good. you can't do that poo in the NFL though.

I just want to say it's going to be hilarious if Newton is drafted here, gets thrown into the starting role when he's OBVIOUSLY not ready, and is flat out horrible. I'll support him, but you guys are delusional when it comes to rookie QB expectations.

I'm not even a Clausen fan and think the situation he was in was FAR from ideal and he shouldn't be labeled terrible because of one bad rookie season.

I think it'll be hilarious if Newton comes in, sells more jerseys than any Panther QB ahead of him, gets us national recognition, and actually wins games. A lot of people in this thread will be bitter while the rest of us will be entertained enjoying the fun.
