I honestly don't know how the golf rankings are figured... it's somewhat of a mystery to me...Me and you agree on this point, it seems they look at the book of work over a number of years rather than the season....but if that is the case why the H is Phil not ranked any higher?

Do you think his game is back.....I was questioning it but then I thought about something, out of 7 tournaments he has entered this year, he has won three...that is pretty strong..

I think Tiger's game revolves around his putting... I've stated this several times in this thread. I've never thought he was "done" as a lot of people did. Compared to other pros, he's never been that consistent with the driver, he's been good but not great with his irons, but around the greens is where he's been so dominant. When he's not putting well, he's REALLY not putted well... and he doesn't seem to have the mental focus he used to when he starts playing bad... and he falls apart a bit now.

My honest opinion is that he'll keep winning, he's shown he can, but he'll continue to be somewhat inconsistent... I think he'll win more majors... BUT I don't think he'll ever dominate like he used to. That mystique he had is gone and the other players aren't psyched out by him like they used to be.

Oh Tiger can hit it long with the best of them... but... there's a lot of guys on the tour that can hit it long. They said Vijay hit one yesterday on #16 370 yards... and he's 48 years old. Hell, I can hit it long for an amateur (not that long) but I can't putt for poo, which is why I don't score that well.

You go back and watch Tiger from 2000-2006... he didn't miss putts.

8 iron almost 200 yards but I digress, you are right his putting game, when he is on is devestating. I still think the size of the gallery he has will always make the folks in his group be intimidated, but if he puts together a run of wins, he will start being looked at with fear on the tour again

Average? No idea... probably around 280 or something... amateurs don't hit it as far as we think we do... I mean I've hit balls 320+ before (based on the yardage of the hole) but it's not that often.

Since I got my new irons last fall I've got a pretty good idea what my yardages are now...

I hit my full:

SW - 80 yards

AW - 100 yards

PW - 130 yards

9 - 150

8 - 165

7 - 185

6 - 200

5 - 210

4 - 220

4H - 230

3W - 250

That's a full shot hitting it well... which doesn't always happen... PLUS, my new irons (compared to my old) are turned one club higher... my old 8 iron is the same loft as my new 9 iron, and some pros have theirs turned even more, plus they know how to exactly calculate for wind, uphill/downhill, fly lies, all that crap that amateurs struggle with.

I don't think the galleries (big or small) bother the pros too much... they're used to playing in front of people. I couldn't do it without a LOT of practice... that in itself is intimidating. Those fools would not line up down the ropes off the tee if I was playing... I'd kill somebody.

He wins a tournament and all of a sudden he's back and he's going to win 35 more tournaments, 18 more majors and still be a huge jerk-off.

But a strange thing happened along the way- he missed the cut on one of the easiest courses on tour... but no one is saying anything now.

I think he's still above most, if not all, in regards to talent. He still seems to have mental problems though. He doesn't appear to have the burning passion.

This weekend showed me that after he wins, he buys into his own hype a bit. He tends to take it easy and just show up. He thinks his talent alone will win for him every time, which just isn't the case anymore.

So what does this past weekend show us about Tiger? To me, not too much that this season hasn't shown... he just doesn't have the game to win now like he used to. He really turned it on Friday, the worst day for scoring of the tournament, but Saturday and Sunday he just lost it. Rory showed that he's got the game that Tiger used to have... pulling away like that was pretty impressive.

As far as the playing goes, he's playing better... last week at the WGA Cadillac he was just killing it with his irons. His achilles since the "incident" has been his putting... and he's still not the Tiger of old putting yet, but the way he hit his irons he didn't need to be.
