If Teddy Bruschi is right, this won't ever get done

I don't give a sh-t what the negotiations are anymore.

I am convinced that if there is not a rookie contract cap and the owners do not regain and maintain operational and financial control over the franchises that they own, the NFL will suffer.

The initial big contracts is what is wrong with the league right now and is directly responsible for the agents, runners, and tampering with college and even some HS kids. Without incentive based contracts that require representation to actually be there for the long haul instead of walking away from the signing table with a 7 figure guaranteed pay day, the word "representation" is becoming a stretch when describing what an agent currently does.

The tail cannot wag the dog. Player X demands a trade. Player Y will hold out of camp. Player Z retires, then signs with division rival before camp.

There is a lack of control. The only way it can be corralled is to make a firm stand that the players and their representation do not have the power to force any hands here, and they never will.
