Advice on saving money with coupons

I can co-sign the Harris Teeter strategy. My grandmother is a coupon queen, and they do double coupons every day, every once in a while they do triple coupons, and double coupons up to $1.50. all that stuff adds up nicely. And she always goes on Thursdays for the senior citizens discount (but i dont think that part applies to you).

Hahahaah - dimbee just sent me a message on facebook telling me my services were needed in this thread.

I actually don't do as much coupon shopping as I used to mainly because I do a lot of my shopping at Aldi (I'm known for my love of this store) and they don't take coupons. Occasionally I will do the triple coupon thing at Harris Teeter, but the prices at that store are so outrageous......the prices at most any store are outrageous to me because I'm used to Aldi prices. I remember when I first started shopping at Aldi, bread was maybe 30 to 40 cents a loaf. Now it's about $1.09 (I buy honey wheat) and I thought - man, that's expensive. But one day I needed bread and Aldi was closed and I went to even Wal-Mart and it was over $2.00. Zoinks.

The store is tiny, but they carry a lot of products. But instead of 20 brands and sizes of ketchup, they carry 1 brand (their own brand), 1 size. As far as their own brand, I've never bought anything I didn't like. And if you do, they'll give you your money back. Their produce is outstanding - not a huge selection - but what you need. You go to HT and buy a green bell pepper for $1.19. At Aldi, you can buy a package of 3 for the same price. Or get a package with red, yellow, and green for maybe $1.79.

You bag your own groceries - you can buy bags or bring your own from home or do what I do and pick up and empty box or two in the store and pack your stuff in the box.

GMA did a piece on stores like this a week or so ago http://abcnews.go.com/Business/ConsumerNews/limited-assortment-grocery-stores-consumers-save-big/story?id=12808224.

I buy stuff at aldi but I only go about every 6 mos because we live about an hour from the closest one. I usually go & stock up on canned goods and dry foods. Everything I've ever bought from there has been pretty good except for the refried beans, they were nastay! Have also bought fruit and veggies from there on occasion.
