So Clausen's scouting report is a lie but you're certain Cam Newton could walk right in and be successful in a pro-style offense?

I dont think he'd come in tearing up the league, there's gonna be some growing pains and some learning to do. But yes I do feel he could walk right in and take Jimmy's job from him. If I was confident in Jimmy's ability, I wouldnt fear competition for him or run from it. The fact his "supporters/rejected Luck lovers" are, says a lot.

Well I don't feel he can and I don't want 2 spend the #1 overall pick for competition. I rather not take the risk of getting another Jason Campbell or VY at #1.

Jason Campbell > Clausen

VY > Clausen

Why didnt you say another Carr or Alex Smith? Both of those guys were #1 overall picks who are considered HUGE BUSTS. Campbell nor VY were #1 overall picks. Just interesting you immediately thought of them instead of guys WHO REALLY WERE #1 picks that didnt pan out. Hmmmmm.

Because Cam not a #1 rated pick he's rated top 20. So your not looking too smart again.

The bottom line is that it's foolish to give up on a QB after his rookie season, doesn't matter who the QB is.

I actually like Cam Newton and I think he has tremendous potential, but there are allot of legitimate questions and concerns about whether or not he can adapt to playing a pro-style offense just like there are allot of legitimate questions and concerns about whether or not The Golden Calf of Bristol can make the transition.

He made a good point. You did jump to Vince Young and Jason Campbell pretty quick. And whats wrong with either of them compared to Clausens production? Rookie or not that was simply pitiful.

So i should compare a 6'6 Black QB with a strong arm and running ability too a 6'4 Qb (alex smith) with a weak arm or a 6'3 (david Carr) QB with the same problem and no running ability. Instead of comparing him with 2 QB with the same or close skill set 1 who went 2 the same school????

Some of you are really stupid.

When we don't and he gets picked around 15-20 what will you do. We both can play the I know the future Game. Ponder that while you get his nuts out of your mouth.

Says the guy in here trying to gain sympathy for one of the worst QBs in the NFL last year. "C'mon guys, Jimmy was horrible, but its not his fault, really!" You need to try harder Luck lover, we dont believe you. You'll be a 49er fan next year.

No doubt VY is a head case. But people seem to easily forget that Vince made the probowl his rookie year. He did again in 2009. I like how he is a bust and is a 2 time probowler. Truth is that if someone can straighten him out, Vince could be a franchise quarterback for many years. There is no comparison. Clausen was the poorest quarterback in the league his rookie year and Young was a probowler.

Got busy at work today so couldn't get on but here it goes...

Well, in your defense, he did give the ball to Smitty. Smitty can turn a 5 yard pass into a big play but I wouldn't go as far as crediting Moore for that.

Look at Smith's TDs with Moore, most of them are downfield throws. Nice try though

There will be a competition. If he comes out of it as the best option, then so be it.

This.

What if the Cowboys gave up on Aikman after his rookie season?

Not even close. Again, Aikman showed something while Clausen just floundered.

CRA and TRD are the reason I hope this kid comes out on fire next year because in their minds he has no hope. Jimmy I'm with you F the haters.

So we use reason and logic to say we need to upgrade over Jimmy but were the idiots and your whole basis for supporting him is "the haters"...hmmm

CRA and TRD have made a strong case for their ability to evaluate talent, but I'm not sure it's the case they hoped to make.

Tell me where I've been wrong and where you've been right with facts, not opinions. You base your posts off hope and enthusiasm and the "haters" base it off facts and observations.

It's getting 2 the point that some people don't even want him in the competition for our QB. Plus these jr. GM are really feeling themselves. I wish 1 can post a check of how much money that make scouting talent.

Listen, you post your resume and I'll post mine with proof to back it up. Some others on here already know my resume and I don't share it often because this is a board for general discussion and everyone can have an opinion.

Since you wish this, you post yours and I'll post mine but if you are under qualified to discuss football compared to me, you must resign from posting, fair?

If you decide not 2 (just for you) post your resume, then you cannot use this argument ever again, fair?

You're wish has been granted, don't back down now.

Again, we're not saying cut him, although it's possible, we're just saying bring in legit competition and make him earn his spot. What's wrong with that? What's wrong with brining in Moore, Volek, Clausen, Pike (or possibly draft pick) and letting them battle it out? Would you be hurt if Moore won? If Volek won? If Newton won? Tell me what is wrong with bringing in competition for the kid and I won't comment on him again.

Fair enough. Nobody said get rid of Jimmy, I think we should keep him. And you're right, a QB needs more than 1 year. But Clausen hasnt done anything to show this is HIS team. The team moved on from Weinke after 1 season, wouldnt shock me to see them do the same to Clausen. Everything they've said so far this offseason has pointed that way as well. Cant say I blame them, when he played the way he did.

Are you serious Dude. Who is trying 2 gain sympathy for Jimmy??? The thread is about HOPING JIMMY CAN IMPROVE AND PROVING YOU WRONG. Can you see now is it that hard for you 2 understand? The best thing that can happen for this team is Jimmy Improving and becoming a franchise QB. Is this hard 2 understand? Jimmy was horrible and some of it was his fault and some of it wasn't. You'll be a Miami Fan next year when they draft Cam.
