It one thing to say "we need a new qb, how about these options", it is another to thing entirelly to get some satisfaction from a 6 TO game because you don't like the guy, and say "I hope he throws another 3 int game next year so you guys can see the light".

It's logical to expect that Delhomme would be crapped on for a crappy performance. It's also logical to expect, however delusional, that if enough people express their displeasure about Jake, perhaps the FO will take the hint and dispense of the indispensable. Regardless of personal opinion, Jake's performance was the worst ever that I have seen on a professional level (and maybe any level), and this performance is going to stick to Jake for the rest of his life, particularly during the off season after a playoff game at home. Moreover, it is not inconceivable that another QB like Cassel, or some untested QB waiting in the wings, could do a better job for the team in the long run.

I find it a tad hypocritical of some of you to take all the Pep bashing tongue-in-cheek, or with a full blown smile, but become all emotional and/or apologetic when it comes to others being critical Jake for his historic tanking. Just because it appears obvious that Jake is going to be with the team and Pep is not does not justify the hypocritical undertones.

All-in-all take it all with a grain of salt. It's to be expected. This is still a message board, and opinions and methods of expression are going to be diverse. There's no need to get all emotional over any of it.

That's a total pipe dream.

The front office doesn't need to listen to fans, nor should they. The whole notion is ridiculous.

... The best option, in fact, is Matt Moore. So the only alternative is already on our roster.

I don't know about this, especially in light of performances by Ryan and Flacco (and Cassel). Believe it or not, there's probably a rookie somwhere who can do just as well (possibly better) than Jake, not to mention someone younger who is buried on someone else's bench

(like a Byron Leftwich). Don't give me the excuse about time because after Jake's performance, it would appear that all we have is time (as in wasted time).

And why would he get a chance in Carolina? Ryan started because Atlanta is in rebuilding mode and they had nothing to lose if he was poor this year. Flacco and Cassell played because of injury not design. 12-4 teams don't turn over the reigns to a rookie unless they have to. We turned the reigns over to a rookie last year as well but again it was due to necessity and injury.

The only way we start a rookie is if we have to due to injury or disaster. It won't happen as long as we are a playoff contender.

Yea, and there are PLENTY of rookies that did jackshit for their teams. How many rookie QB's have eventually given up due to poor play for several years? And Byron Leftwich? Are you serious? The guy was LUCKY to land in Pitt as a backup. He almost faded out of existence like Aaron Brooks.

Good lord, you people need to get over the QB situation. Let the ball roll. You've voiced your bitches, now lets move on. I'm an ardent Jake supporter. Would I be pissed if they released him? Yes. Would I bitch? Yes. Would I post multiple threads about how pissed I am? Absolutely not.

Unless you bring something new to the table besides flat out bitching, then keep the thoughts to yourself.

I used Byron Leftwich as an example, although from all accounts he filled in admirably for Ben throughout the season including a comeback victory over the Skins that I watched. And, I might add that his play was more impressive than Jake's. So don't think that just because the guy was floating in the water for a little bit that he cannot be a successful starter. As a mater of fact there is a rumor about him going to the Bears (though the Steelers would be smart to lock him up if they can). Leftwich probably wants to be a starter. As I recall, years ago people were beginning to think that Drew Brees was a bust, but history has proved them wrong. Moreover, you talk about rookies that haven't done squat. That's not really a news flash! Of course rookies don't do a lot because half of them aren't starting material in the first place, another 25 percent aren't prepared, and another 25 percent just don't get a chance. The fact that Ryan and Flacco did have success should tell you something. The fact that Tom Brady was a low draft pick, that Kurt Warner came from NFL Europe, and our very own Jake Delhomme not only came from NFL Europe, but could have just as easily rode the bench for his NFL career should tell you that sometimes it is the lack of vision of coaches that stop rookies and bench-warmers from blooming into solid NFL starters.

Imagine that.
