I can't wait until next year when he puts out several 3+ interception performances and more people are either a)seeing the light or b)arguing about the tough schedule we're playing and blame the receivers for around half of those interceptions, or opining that it's still better than 1-15, like they've always done.

Seriously I don't have a f*cking clue how you turn the ball over 6 times in a playoff game and you're 34 years old and people still think you should start and don't believe in even bringing any competition from the outside. And I don't give a sh*t about people just going along with what Fox thinks, makes me think they're incapable of any independent thought. I've never heard of this kind of player love from any fan of another team. In a more serious analogy, that's like a power plant worker single-handedly causing a reactor meltdown and next week he gets awarded employee of the month.

In the meantime I'm done arguing about Delhomme and people are just going to have to observe the truth the hard way in the future. I'm finished with the subject. I'm just going to take a page from engine9 and patronize every Delhomme fanboy with exaggerated statistics and glorify all of his accomplishments. Because f*ck intelligence and logic, I might as well join the blind circle jerk of Delhomme love everybody seems to be having so much fun with here.

I hope I'm f*cking wrong for the sake of this team, but I probably won't be.

Dude, be as dramatic as you want. Annoy as many people as you can. Hold your breath till you turn blue if it makes you feel better, but it ain't gonna accomplish anything (with the possible exception of raising your blood pressure).

After the playoff game, I posted that he was done and I fully expected the team to move on without him. Didn't happen, and looking over the alternatives, I'm now forced to admit that might just be for the best.

There is nobody out there that I'd be more comfortable with under center this coming season. That includes Matt Cassel, Derek Anderson, Michael Vick and every other suggestion (realistic or unrealistic) that's been thrown out in this forum.

As far as the team's concerned, and that includes coaches and teammates, he's their guy.

You don't gave to like it, but you ain't gonna change it :nonod:

backstabbing? that's a hypocrite statement if I've ever seen one.

Problem is, I don't tie my emotions in with players or coaches so much like other people do here. You should realize that. One of the most popular players in Panthers history is packing his bags and taking his game elsewhere after years of being treated like a king by this franchise. ....but my opinion makes me a backstabber. Yea.

So as a fan I like to take an objective opinion. And my objective opinion says 6 turnovers in a game is a little bad. It's my opinion and you don't agree with it. Well too f*cking bad for me I guess. Mintal doesn't agree with me so I'm f*cked 6 ways to Sunday.

I know you keep throwing out the "well there's nothing you can do about it" card. At this point do you think I care? Do you think I care?

This is the TEAM I love, not the players or personnel.

That would be hypocritical if it was, but it wasn't. You've been taking every opportunity and inventing others to slam Delhomme. I haven't. You have taken offense to every criticism of anything that disagrees with your opinion. I haven't. You probably have yourself convinced that you're being objective. Oh really? You really are amusing.

Jake is the man until John Fox and Hurney say he's not the man. I can accept that despite a horrendous last performance. Some cannot, I understand...

One thing I have never understood and never will understand about fanhood (any fans, not just here) is the need to wallow in schadenfreude and smack talk about players on the team you root for when they don't do well but are good human beings (i.e. I get why people would spout off about Jenks, he was turdy). How in the world does it make people feel better? What purpose does it serve? Venting and namecalling during or right after a bad game I get... it's not something I would do (hence the reason I usually stay away from gamethreads and days after losses), but I get it. A month later? Not so much.

That still stings. Jakes mechanics and just plan decisions that game were just horrible. I will never understand why they never fixed Jake holding the ball too low and not looking off the damn Safety. Also the play calling was so predictable. Well our new QB coach has his hands full this season.

You dont understand because you dont have testicles and testosterone. :D Its theraputic to vent rather than keep it all in. I'll never root for another team and love my Panthers dearly. But, if you'r leaving the team (Pep) you are now the enemy...if u'r not with us u'r against us and i'm going to talk trash. If you are getting paid millions and u suck, im ripping you. this is a violent and barbaric sport and evokes some nasty behavior from a variety of fan personalities...... I hear the ballet needs some fans.

I already said I get venting right after a game, but to me going on and on about it a month later is puzzling.

Women have testosterone also, dude. It's a medical fact. ;)

I would rip a guy if I felt they weren't making the effort to be great or to improve or who trash talked his team (or runs his mouth before or after a game) in the press, or who BSed about the money NOT being the reason they left when it's obviously crap but not a guy who wants to leave because they think it's time to move on. In my book, because of his comments to the press, Pep's agent is the one who gets the demerits for how that all has been handled. Pep never bitched for one minute all last year or in the prior offseason about his contract when he could have been a disctraction by doing so.

Duley noted.... but, only girls from Pittsburgh have testosterone.... u can tell by the mustaches....

Instead of throwing the defense or someone else under the bus as many other players would, he did what he always does. He took full responsibility and put it all on his shoulders, Sure he sucked that day and it was a terrible game to watch. Trust me I was there and watched all the painful minutes.

And nothing he did last year has any bearing on the future.

:beatdeadhorse5:

...well he has had plenty of practice for owning up to playing like shat over the years so the fact that he "took blame" does not surprise me and he scores zero points for doing the noble thing.

And I am not so sure about that other statement either. I think this performance will stick with us and Jake for a long long time and I believe it will have an effect of the future. I doubt he is as "trusted" by his teammates as he probably once was. They are football players but they are not that stupid. Also, no matter how well he plays for how many games in a row, he will be known as the guy who can really stink it up when you need him. He has that unique capability.

He is branded.

I know you want him to be good for us and you have always pulled for the guy. Also you do seem to look at the positive rather than the negative most of the time and that is appreciated. But Jake is poor. Poor for this team mentally. He is a stain. The defense did not play perfect and bail him out like they so often have. And at the same time he handed them an insurmountable task.

I look forward to his departure.

I can understand the conversation that Jake had a bad game. I can understand the anger and hurt that accompanied it. I was furious at it and him. But as Mintal and Mr. Scot said, Jake is our QB next year. So cursing him is the worst thing we can do. So quit throwing him under the bus and get the freak on board.

Equally infuriating is when people say get rid of him but don't offer any sensible options. You want to get rid of Jake? Then give me an option where getting rid of him makes sense. A draft pick? Forget it--we all know any drafted QB takes a while to develop. A free agent? Who? Cassell? Franchised, forget it. Not sure he's that good anyway. And there isn't anyone else. The best option, in fact, is Matt Moore. So the only alternative is already on our roster.

It one thing to say "we need a new qb, how about these options", it is another to thing entirelly to get some satisfaction from a 6 TO game because you don't like the guy, and say "I hope he throws another 3 int game next year so you guys can see the light".

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
