Melo to LA? And Bobcats Mentioned

I understand but I would think his competitive ego would tell him that if you trade one of your two best players you are going to want more in return than just Ron Artest.

Maybe, but again, who knows? MJ thought he had something good going on when he shipped TC out of town and TC was a baller (with an occasional hurt vagina). In exchange for TC, he got borderline worthless players in Najera, Carroll, and cap space.

Question for all you NBA guys... Why the hell would any team ever even consider trading their best players to teams like the Lakers, teams that are already better than you could ever hope to be?? It just seems counter productive when you are trying to build a team that can win a championship..

good for the team, bad for the league...can't argue that. Suppose the thing is, if I'm a player and I really want the best chance possible to win a ring, there are constantly a couple of teams that I can get traded to to improve that chance. I bitch to management enough to make that happen or I stay and don't give my all anymore because I'm not happy etc. Tough position for a team to be in.

Reggie Miller was quoted yesterday talking about how the new CBA needs to have a hard cap with stricter rules that keep big time players im smaller markets (again, another league that wants to be similar to the NFL). He then started talking about how he played 18 years in indiana and loved every second of it. This needs to happen to help promote small market health.

The players' unions will never let an NFL-like cap happen, which is just stupid because the NFL cap makes 90% of the players a bit more money at the expense of the top 10% of athletes (who still make god awful amounts of money).

Not so sure.....he traded Chandler away for a pack of gum.

Tyson Chandler is a bum. Dude played like 20 games for us and we paid him 12 million. The players didn't like him and Jordan did not like him either. He is soft and Kwame Brown is playing better for us than he did and making League minimum. Money is an issue and Jordan wanted under the luxury tax.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a little more in return for that trade but I completely understand why Jordan did it.
