Lets at least point out that Fairley only played one year of D-1 ball so of course he had only 1 good year. As for being a bust, if you expect him to come in and dominate his rookie year then by that standard he will be a bust. But if you expect he will come in and contribute and become dominating in a few years then he may very well do that. As for Bowers he will be a good DE in the league but he won't come in and dominate either right away. The question is whether we need him with Johnson, Hardy and Brown already here more than we need a Fairley with Landri, Johnson and Hayden already here. For me it isn't a tough decision. Which ever of the two we don't take will likely be snapped up by Fox at number 2.

He played 2 years at Auburn, not just 1.

Thought he was a junior college transfer and this was his junior year. Didn't realize that he only played one year at the junior college. I wonder if his grades or SAT score were low. Good thing DTs don't have to be that smart. LOL Still it took him some time to adjust from Junior college to D-1 apparently. He only started 2 games his first year at Auburn.

I learn things everyday.

We could move into the second. I would rather not get raped in a trade again so I would just like to stay put in the third' date=' but there are players that will be available outside of the first that can be as good as Fairley....[/quote']

I absolutely do NOT want to try and move up from the 3rd to the 2nd....cost too high and we always give up way to much to do it.

I want to trade back in Round 1 and pick up that 2nd.

DJ was never a can't miss prospect, thus he was there in the second. He lacked speed and that was a HUGE knock on him.

Exactly....there were a lot of issues with his speed and work ethic leading up to the draft. Thus, the reason that he slipped into the 2nd.

Apparently watching a Green Bay's ability to spread the ball 4 wide to create mismatches and minimize a scary player like Troy Polaumalu is gone unseen unless you think LaFell, Gettis, Smitty*, ? will do that for us.

Did I just set it up for someone to say," Dont forget about Charley Martin!"

We dont just need A DT(something we just ignored for years), We need to address WR with another No.1 type player. WR is more broke than we realize and Smittys replacement will be going full speed once he leaves..is that Gettis, LaFell? Im not saying we need to get Green No.1 but if you think we are going to be great(not ok) at WR then don't address it.

Marshall is most likley gone and Gamble was flaking out bad at the end of the year...we are fine with that? or is Shoring up the CBs with a guy considered "Great" ....Did I just set it up for someone to say,"No one drafts CB no.1....droool"

When you look back on this draft Peterson will be a top 3 player..so since you have no choice but to pick no.1 get him. set the precedent. No one took DTs in the top 3 till Mccoy and SUH...because they were DOMINANT...

Peterson is dominant against NFL talent..like La Fell!! AJ Green, Julio Jones..remember prospects from SEC-most likely NFL ready!

Look at Munnerlyn, SEC guy, has played at a high level since he stepped on the field..7th rounder! how bout a top 3 guy? You don't think Peterson would replace and be as good if not better than Marshall? I see him leapfrogging Gamble before the end of the season and MEEKS is a secondary coach!! say Zone defense again...I dare you..we played more man than ever with Meeks last season..Rivera and Mcdermott will change things up..they have to do both.

Fairley, I do like him but he and Bowers have a similar pattern of a lot of busts....a 1 year body of work. Suh did for 4 seasons..Mccoy did it 2. Fairley will be the face of the franchise and that....scares the crap out of me. Bowers had a great season but Gaines Adams did too...and TB couldn't wait to trade him for a second. Tampa won in that trade!!(YEAH I WENT THERE!)

Blane Gabbert,

So you want an option QB..limited mobility, very inaccurate but cannon arm. Id take the Project from a spread option with great mobility, Cannon arm more accurate with leadership intagibles....yes Cam Newton is going to be better than Blane Gabbert who barley had 16 tds last season. Give me the project who at least excells in several areas. No the project whos slow and eveyone is hyping for ..NO reason. He has Mallets arm...and looks way too much like Derek Anderson. I am against drafting a QB this season but between Gabbert and Newton..its not close in my opinion.

I absolutely agree that we need another WR.....we only dressed 3 for games last season. However, given the fact that you have two second year players (3 if AE amounts to anything) and Smitty. I think it is a better idea to add another veteran to the Corp than relying on a rookie.

However, Green is a great talent.
