For the Elite QB folks, something to ponder.

And they didn't move the ball unless the defense set them up with a turnover
all year? lol. what does that matter anyway? they work with what they have and what they have is no running game to speak of, but a great passing game.

they were 20th in the league on rushing attempts, 24th in rushing yardage and 27th on yards per attempt.

they got there on the back of their defense and aaron rodgers. they wouldn't have done it without both. run game had very little to do with it.

Which QB throw the pick 6 again?? The game MANAGER or the "elite" one. Which one throw 3 TDs on the #2 defense in the league? If you can't score on offense, I really doesn't matter how TOs a defense gets...

Pit had the defense, GB had the better QB

Which one is the "elite" one?

These things tell me , Pit had the better Defense and GB had a better QB. Another year where offense wins out.

Found this interesting, written in 2008. Since then the winners are Saints (2009), and Pack (2010). Took 10 stats and they come up with this.

Source:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2009-01-27-important-stat_N.htm

"For Super Bowl winners, the most vital stat to victory is ..."

LUCK

42 of the 42 Super Bowl champions led the league in this stat.

Next with most wins, Keep in mind doesn't count the Saints and Packers.

DEFENSIVE/SPECIAL TEAM TOUCHDOWNS

Nine of the 42 Super Bowl champions led the league in this stat.

PASSING YARDS PER ATTEMPT

Seven of the 42 Super Bowl champions led the league in this stat.

TOTAL OFFENSE

Seven of the 42 Super Bowl champions led the league in this stat.

TOTAL DEFENSE

Seven of the 42 Super Bowl champions led the league in this stat.

We all saw the Packers win, so all categories listed (except luck), probably boost 1.

from NFL.com for saints win:

Key Stat

After a slow first quarter in which the Colts appeared ready to run away with the game, the Saints altered the course of Super Bowl XLIV by seizing control of the second quarter. They ran 26 offensive plays to six for the Colts, then opened the second half with a successful onside kick. Six plays later, Pierre Thomas scored on a 16-yard catch-and-run to give the Saints their first lead, 13-10.

manning

31 of 45 333 yds 1 TD 1 INT

brees

32 of 39 288 yds 2 TDs 0 INT

Kickers

Hartly 11 pts

This falls more on ST in this win.

sacks

Colts 1

Saints 0

Penalties (think this is an important one not listed, when is probably more important than how and yards)

Saints Penalties (Number-Yards) 3 - 19

Penalties (Number-Yards) 5 - 45

Final 31-17
