way to take Thomas Davis over Aaron Rodgers

We are ok guys. Clausen is a steal, and is Rodger 2.0 waiting to happen, he just had a bad coaching staff. Look at all the QB's who left Carolina and produced. It takes talent to throw 452 yards against Navy and lose. Just give the kid three more years like Rodgers had.

What were the big criticisms of Rodgers that caused the draft day slide?

I like what this site says about him: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2005/draft/players/64079.html

The reason I like it is because Chud has said we're going to an offense that's more about timing. So maybe, just maybe there's a chance that lightening strikes twice.

Here's something about his slide. It's not really about specific concerns as much as the number of qbs that year and a negative impression at the time of Tedford qbs.

It's not like Thomas Davis is Sam Bowie here.

Aaron Rogers is the product of sitting behind a hall of fame QB, patience and good coaching.

If he would have spent the last 6 years under a Fox regime, he wouldn't be as good as he was this season.

Umm...QB was always a need with Jake Delhomme.

Not in 2005.

You only had a relatively small portion of the fanbase dissatisfied with him during the first three years. And why not? We'd been to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship.

Things didn't really start hitting the fan until 2006.

And most were saying "Why take Rodger when you have Favre?"

You don't even have to go back that far. Just look back to a few years ago when the Pack let Favre go and promoted Aaron Rodgers to starter. Probably a good 85-90% of fans (and media) thought they were making a mistake.

Rodgers' first two years were unremarkable, he actually had poor stats in five appearances (15-31, 111 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 43.9 rating). His third year he played very well in a game at Dallas, and that probably gave the coaches the confidence they needed in him to boot Favre. And the quality of receivers in Green Bay certainly hasn't hurt.

The previous coaching staff wouldn't have help maximize his talent; so it wouldn't have mattered.

That's BS. Just because they couldn't turn Weinke or one of those other scrubs into pro bowlers, doesn't mean they couldn't have done something with a real talent.

If fact, you can make a pretty good case that Fox and his staff got just about all anybody could have gotten out of undrafted Jake Delhomme.

Early on, it seemed like every time he got into a game, he got hurt.

There were certainly reasons to believe the Pack screwed up. Even the following year when Favre and the Vikes pretty much embarrassed them twice. Of course, we now know they didn't screw up at all.
