Gross wants more money than Jake Long

While it is all hear-say.

The Panthers just need to pay the man, and lock down their LT for the rest of his career.

Well come on, it is up to him too. It's not like the Panthers can snap their fingers and make him sign.

This ordeal isn't all on the Panthers. I bet the Panthers have offered him a perfectly fine deal.

Gross may very well be more greedy or unhelpful than you or anyone here knows.

It's hard to blame guys whose "careers" average only a few years of their lives (and could be over in a heartbeat) with getting what they can out of the market.

Also hard to blame them for wanting to play where they want to right?(peppers)

The point is there is only so much they can do, and everyone was saying how the Panthers haven't done this or that.

The way I see it Gross hasn't signed with the Panthers, not the Panthers haven't signed Gross.(because the organization certainly hasn't done anything negligent in the matter)

Plus if you can be just fine with Gross getting what he can out of the market, and indeed leaving, then people should certainly be fine with Peppers doing it.(and if going public about it gets you more cash then so be it by your post)

When I think of Peppers, it isn't really hate or anger that comes to the forefront. It's disappointment. He really did, and maybe still does, have the potential to be one of the most special players in the history of the game.

But all of us waited years for Tshimanga Biakabutuka to become what he could be too, and it never happened.

The fact that Peppers hasn't become what everyone believes he can be can be blamed either on the coaches or on Peppers himself. Arguably it's both, but in the end one or the other will get more of the blame. His performance on his next team will go a long way toward deciding that debate.

And one thing worth noting. Next year's result alone isn't going to be enough to settle that issue. Its going to be the full post-Panthers body of work, however long that is, that tells the tale.

And no, I don't like the way he's handled himself in all of this, but realistically that's how it goes.

Last year it just seemed when reading between the lines, (and we all know how accurate that can be) that it wasn't the money per se but some terms that Gross wanted and the Panthers didn't want to agree to. This could be length of contract, amount guaranteed, early release options, etc. Don't know and I agree that when a player says it's not about the money it usually is. However, I for some reason think it was more than that.
