With this coaching staff...how many game would have we won last year?

2-3, I don't see Jimmy developing pocket presence and confidence over night.... still a young team, and even on paper we were out matched in most of our games.

At the end of the day It's my opinion that Good QB's tend to make coaches look better, and bad QB's make coaches look horrible.

except when play calling totally ignores adjusting to the defense.. and also, disregards what might help a youngster adapt to the game better.. i.e. shorter routes, screen plays, roll outs...

I saw shorter routes, I saw screens, I saw roll out. It's my opinion when you have a QB who is limited in what he can do it makes it easier on defense to gameplan for us. You are not able to keep the defense off guard, and open them up when the playbook/routes are limited.

Without seeing ANY games with this coaching staff, it would be hard to say.

That being said, I doubt that Rivera would had yanked Matt Moore early in the season like Fox did. That would have equated to at least a few more wins IMO.

IDK.... When Moore was Yanked he was playing like straight garbage crap. After he was reinserted he did start playing a little better as the starter. I actually think the benching helped him, and had it not been for the injury we may have won 1 or 2 more games... But that's just a complete guess on my part.

If you couldn't tell that Fox's "I can't win with these crappy rookies" mentality didn't spread to his senior guys that trusted him at the begining of the season, then you are blind. By the end of the year, once Fox realized that he had fuged up, he got his guys to fight for him. It was just too little too late because the mentality of losing had set in.

Not to mention the horrible game plans, play calls, and in-game adjustments.

Another coaching staff probably couldn't have taken this team to the SB but they probably could have at least pulled out 6-9 wins, easily.

Hopefully we will not see, but if Jimmy is the starter and he plays like he did last year I don't give a crap who is coaching the offense will be limited and non-productive and we will be picking in the top 5 again.

Having a QB who can't consistently make plays on 1 drive, and who can't get respect from opposing defense pretty much promises you a loss unless the other team has just as bad QB play...Ex San fran and Arizona.

Or unless you have a top 3 defense in the NFL.... which we won't have. Our defense is good, but not Great to the point they can constantly stop offenses no matter how long they are on the field and with bad field position constantly.

He shouldn't have been playing the week after the concussion and shouldn't have been pulled after that week. I think that move messed him up for the rest of the year.

The one and only major criticism I have of JR is that I feel that leaving Fox in place for 2010 really hurt this tem.

Rivera and staff would probably only given the team 4 or 5 wins; more than what Fox got but nothing of realy great signifigance. The problem is that this year has set back a lot of the younger players. Rivera and staff would not have gotten Hardy to play any better this year IMO but his progress would have already begun. Now its really not starting until 2011 or later.

Fox gave up. So it's not even a question of which staff would have done better coaching. Its that the situation would have been better, margonally for 2010 but expenentailly going forward.

I agree. People we got swarmed by the injury bugs and never recovered. Add to that craptastic playcalling, lame duck coach, and a rookie starting and no one should be surprised.

certainly you missed "let's run on 1st and 2nd even without success.. and let Jimmaay throw it on 3rd and 8".. multiple times..

we didn't run that many screens.. we didn't run that many short routes... I disagree with your assessment.. but that's just my opinion.

First of all, we're playing "what if" games. And I hate what if games.

That being said, if we had a different coaching staff, there would have been a lot of differences at the beginning of the year. Whether or not Moore would have played crappy at the beginning of the season with the new staff, is impossible to say. I'd like to think the team as a whole, would have been prepared, with a better game plan, and Moore wouldn't have felt all the pressure that he did.

The fact is, Moore is still the better QB than Clausen is. I hope there isn't anybody who wants to argue that.

With that being said, Moore, with a running game (which was a non facter at the beginning of the season) would have won us at least a few more games IMO, regardless of the coaching staff. Then lets get back to the what if we had the coaching staff we had now, and it could be even better, IMO.

Once again, I hate what if games.

Coaches don't win games for you. They can factor in to it, sure, but it's about the players. I know you blame Fox a lot for last season, LP, but you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Jimmy and Matt were awful last season and it wouldn't have mattered who was calling the shots or coaching them.
