Williams, Johnson or someone else?

contrary to what a lot of people are calling for at QB, we will probably not be going with a an old QB as a starter this year. if the team takes the long view and decides to start someone who has a future and the season is extended to 18 games, they will need all the help they can get from their run game and will need to be as deep as possible. they'll be keeping williams around. i don't think they'll have to resort to tagging him unless it's just to buy a little time.

i really can't see them using the tag on anyone, really. most of the guys will get signed quickly after the CBA is signed. kalil, williams, and johnson will probably be the first ones they work with.

For sure. Prob most of the contracts have already been worked up they just cant move on them till the CBA is reached. We have plenty of cash and those players will get there money.

I honestly don't think we will tag anyone this year. I think all of these guys want to stay and I think we will pay them. This is the whole reason why we dumped so many players last year so we can resign our "core." Tough to argue that these 3 players aren't our core. I would think all 3 pretty much have contracts ready to move on as soon as the new CBA gets approved.

You typically only see a franchise tag on someone when you can't come to terms on $. I don't see any of these guys wanting ridiculous money and I don't see JR not willing to pay b/c these 3 have performed and DW and DE have been "under paid" for the past 2 years. I think DW broke the million mark for the first time last year - crazy.

Got to keep CJ, and Kalil. Like it's been said in earlier post: CJ is only 24 years old, and keeps getting better yearly. Add a dominating DT, and we have a beastly D-Line. With Clausen possibly starting next year, we're going to need to have our run game at it's best, and Kalil helps with that; as well as, shoring up our O-line for years to come.

I love D-Will, and would love for him to retire a Panther, but if it comes down to him or CJ and Kalil, I'm going with CJ and Kalil.

If we truly want our run game at it's best, that would require keeping Williams as well.

Gotta keep Kalil. He is a young, talented Center. He is worth the biggest contract for a center. I think Richardson will be willing to pay that, to keep him. With the fact that there will be no new Carolina Panther player contracts after the CBA, they may feel the tag is worth using on him, to keep him from hitting the FA market anyways, regardless whether teams may or may not have a window of time to sign their FA's after the CBA gets done.

Johnson also needs to be kept.

They are plenty of players that the tag is worth using on.

I love D. Williams, but if he really wants to say, he'll say. It's his choice.

well Richardson's gonna need about 60 million because Mangold got 55

None of the 3 are going anywhere. Williams would be the most likely of the 3 to let go, but won't happen b/c Rivera likes to operate a ball control offense. I think you will see Rivera searching hard to find a Wesley Walls.

These 3 are part of our core and I will really be scratching my head if any of these 3 are let go. We all suffered through this past year in the hopes of doing so was necessary to keep the core players on our team.
