Battlefield 3 out Fall 2011

The beta code is like 2 months old, the beta is strictly for testing network load capacity although some little things are being fixed from the feedback. Don't worry. Not to mention Microsoft frowns on demo/betas being over 2gig so they had less to work with.

Yeah the code is old and nowhere near the final version. So hopefully they've already fixed the prone issue and the grenade issue. I can't tell you how many time i've thrown a grenade only to have it stick on a leaf and blow my face off.

Nobody cares about your k-d ratio in this game....I've played with people who went 4-17 in the beta and they were great teammates and were able to help us get the win on offense.....

This. We used to play rush a ton on BC2 and we would have guys who were horrible at gunning, but they would go to the front lines for us and drop ammo and med-kits. We could go in unloading clips and know that more ammo was just around the corner. Teamwork is definitely key.

Rofl, I thought I could throw it through a window but that clearly didn't work.

Also, I hate how you can't "cook" grenades.

Yeah i'm not getting the non-cooking of grenades either. Seems like that should be a no brainer as it is an actual tactic used when throwing real grenades.

I always heard it was discouraged since the fuze length isn't always the same for every grenade.

this franchise plays so sluggish. will rent 3 to give it a chance, ugh.

just don't understand the popularity.

killzone has a similar issue with me. heavy gunplay feel.. gives me headaches.

The game is a team based game, objective based, not Rambo CoD style. You take your time, look around corners, communicate, heal/drop ammo crates, etc, with the goal of taking points.

It's just different. Why would we want another CoD clone out there? That's boring.

Yes...I only enjoy run and gun twitch shooters like CoD.

lol I actually enjoyed MAG.. which is quite similar.

BFMP is just really disoriented. There actually is tactical team based games out there that play fluidly...I like..doesn't mean I don't like the FPS concept that Battlefield has.

    • Yeah, I am not giving up on him yet but I do think we need to see a pretty big step up this season to be convinced he is a long term solution. It is a shame that his development seemed to be stunted in 2023.
    • To put the question simply: Would you be happy with a Steelers trade that doesn't bring back their first-round pick next year? A potential trade between us and Pittsburgh is interesting because depending on which draft value chart you use, Pittsburgh has two totally natural trades available to them, but they're very different. The Jimmy Johnson chart says the difference between us at 8 and them at 21 is 600 points, or almost exactly the value of the last pick in the 1st round. That falls in line with how teams tend to discount future picks. 8 for 21 and next year's Pitt 1st is almost exactly equal. More modern charts (Chase Stuart, Fitz) are much flatter, and 8 for 21 and 83, Pittsburgh's next pick this year, are basically equal.  Now, the second one obviously won't actually happen--the Lions had to include pick 73 just to move from 29 to 24 last year, and Pittsburgh would clearly be making a much bigger jump. But given the flatness of this draft and the lack of blue-chip players at the top, would you accept some mix of 21, 83, and next year's non-first-rounders from Pittsburgh, or would you want Dan Morgan barred from every touching the draft again for accepting anything less than next year's first?
    • just ask XL, to date he is has never been wrong about what we are doing w/ our first pick
