My dad once bowed up against some dude who was about my age on the golf course. He would have got his ass completely handed to him, as this boy was a redneck from West Virginia. The dude looked at me (he and I got along pretty well), saw that I was shaking my head, then laughed it off. I sat there wondering "Do I let him get his ass kicked, and have to walk home, or do I probably get cheap shotted five times getting in between them?"

This has happened to me twice when I was with my dad. (Keep in mind my dad is roughly 6'6" 298 and works out every day and puts up 455 on bench. Was a golden gloves boxer growing up as well.)

1. My dad and I are driving on the freeway and he's on his cellphone and accidentally cut someone off. We keep driving but the guy is following us telling us to pull over. My dad happened to be driving my mom's car and had the seat so far back and so low that he looked smaller than he is. We pulled over on the freeway and the guy got out and started walking towards the car. My dad got out and I stayed in the car after seeing how small the guy was. Once the guy saw my dad he tucked tail and got back in his car and drove away. Incident avoided.

2. We were driving through the old neighborhood I grew up in and we were talking and he made a right turn infront of someone and cut them off. This is a very rough neighborhood so when they confronted us we knew not to stop but try and get out of there as soon as possible. They in turn cut us off and slammed on the breaks and we were blocked in by the sidewalk and other cars. Three guys got out with guns and walked over to us. I really thought I was going to die but unlike the first situation where my dad was confrontational, he was very apologetic here and we basically got away with a "warning." Even though we both could have kicked the poo out of all of them, they had guns.

Basically you have to read the situation and react accordingly.
