Heard on the sports radio today that an insider with the Saints said they are biting the bullet and finally doing a reset this year.   That said, don't expect a QB at #9 even if Sanders is there.  Perfect year to do a low key tank for that 2026 QB draft class.

Getting a general one going in the main forum a week ahead of the draft. Take this all with a grain of salt.  This stuff usually ends up wildly different; but truths are peppered in.

Notes as of late:

  • The common top-4, barring trades: 1-Ward, 2-Hunter, 3-Carter, 4-Campbell (I do wonder if NYG take calls)
  • Giants are seeing Shedeur once more but still sounds like they're leaning Carter (Maybe trading up from 34?)
  • Jeanty to the Jaguars is starting to pick up legitimate steam.  Vegas odds have dramatically increased, Brugler and a few others have switched him as their JAX choice at 5.
  • If that happens, the Raiders could very well be eyeing Jalon Walker
  • Jets choice to come down to Graham vs. Warren vs. Membou (if all 3 end up available)
  • Panthers have been linked to both UGA guys, mostly Jalon Walker.  Buuut do wonder what happens if Graham is there.

Here is my theory--The Giants are not 100% happy with their pass rush--15 sacks combined between Thib (6) and Burns (9).  In 2026, The Giants will have to make a choice about Thib.  They would then have 2 Edge rushers on second contracts--probably costing around $65m for both.

Many teams want edge players; draft Carter and trade Thib.  Carter's second contract would be due when Burns' contract expires.  In essence, the Giants would have better Edge rushers at a cost of about $40m.  You could probably get a high draft pick for Thib and save $25m.

All that to say, "I don't think they are set at edge yet."

Won’t happen and isn’t worth considering.  They are posturing for a trade down obviously.

The Raiders have already shown enough interest in Jeanty that anyone after 6 that wants him and would trade up for him, will already be calling the Jags for a trade anyways.

The only thing them signaling interest in Jeanty could do if their interest was to trade back, would be to bluff the Raiders into making a swap with them to add draft assets while still drafting whoever they are actually targeting.

That doesn't sound like a theory rooted in the short term futures of their GM and HC.

I doubt they survive to see the end of that plan.

Lower floors than AR coming out, or lower floors than AR now?  Are you counting that he has proven to be a productive goal line back?  AR as a prospect had just about the lowest floor you can possibly have.  Probably the same as Milroe.  Dart's floor looks a lot closer to backup QB to me, but the issue is that his ceiling doesn't look too far from that either.

It's crazy that teams are drafting scratch off lottery tickets at QB with 1st round picks.

It's about the importance of the position. If you don't have a QB you can't compete so if you don't have one it's kinda like fug it, let's roll the dice. Especially at the top of the draft where the rookie wage scale protects you from having to pay these kids like proven future HOFers.

Frankly, I am surprised to see both still there.  I wonder how much Jones was the fall guy within the organization.  Schoen has made some questionable moves.  I think Dabold is a good coach and Schoen is going to drag him down with him.

I actually think Daboll is a bad coach. The way he handled the Jones thing was pathetic.

Are you referring to the benching and then starting and then benching and then cutting Jones?  I am not as close to the Daboll situation, so I am genuinely asking.  I remember when they hired Daboll, I thought it was a good hire.  He had a good year, but when I looked over Schoen's record, I was like, "Who could win there?"

The reason I ask, the Panthers nearly engaged in a very similar process with Young and Canales.

But I am bullish on Jones, and think the Colts need to protect him and give him weapons--and he needs a RB and TE.  the whole package.   Funny, But Pat Shurmur (now Colorado OC) compares Shedeur Sanders and Daniel Jones.  (I don't see it).

The making him a scout team safety after he was benched the last time. There is no reason for that. It's extremely disrespectful

I'm sure there's more to the story. But yeah, on face value that is pretty disrespectful.

The Raiders could end up drafting Jalon Walker at pick #6 of the 2025 NFL Draft It would be a "shocking move" by the Raiders but there is definitely some smoke around Las Vegas really liking the Georgia OLB / EDGE. “His leadership is famous in the Georgia building.”
