Personally i want to know how my first rounder is going to impact the game.  Forget position. Is he a top 10 talent in any role?  I see both sides--but we need to know what we are getting and exactly what he can give us in the pass rush game.  Maybe we'll all love him--great character--but the risk is high for the reason you state in  my view. if we take him i hope you are right.  I'll eat crow with a smile.

None of these players coming out will be top 10 at their position right out of the gate. None probably will be by the end of year 2. I think you are expecting too much.

True, the only exception was Luke Kuechly in 2012, rookie of the year and was a top 10 player that year at his position easily.  

DB wasn't top 10,  CMC wasn't top 10 in their rookie years, etc.

Whoever is drafted needs to have an immediate impact though, especially on a defense that is severely depleted.

Warren has a shot to be top 10 in TE rec yards year 1.  Guess we can debate what really makes a TE a TE given the ugly work that doesn't show on a stat sheet but definitely offensive production

last year a rookie was #1

a rookie has been in the top 10 in 3 of the last 4 years in offensive production. 

and most years in the last decade features a top 10 rec yard TE in year 2. 

RB, WR, and TEs in today's NFL are pretty much instant productions positions (year 1 or 2) if you hit on a stud. 

*pending there isn't some type of Jimmy Clausen issue where the QB just kills functional O

Walker is a compact, powerful defender with length and explosiveness. He played both on and off the ball in the Georgia defensive scheme, but he’s at his best on the edge. As a pass rusher, he can win with pure speed, power and an explosive counter move. He’s also a weapon when used to spy the quarterback. He can mirror the QB’s movement before closing the space in a hurry. He dominated in the Bulldogs’ first meeting against Texas during the 2024 season. He’s a firm edge-setter against the run. When he’s stacked off the ball, he’s a touch late to key/diagnose, but he can attack and take on blocks or scrape over the top for tackles. He has outstanding change-of-direction quickness in space. Overall, Walker is a tone-setter on defense and UGA coaches rave about his makeup and leadership.
