Personally i want to know how my first rounder is going to impact the game.  Forget position. Is he a top 10 talent in any role?  I see both sides--but we need to know what we are getting and exactly what he can give us in the pass rush game.  Maybe we'll all love him--great character--but the risk is high for the reason you state in  my view. if we take him i hope you are right.  I'll eat crow with a smile.

None of these players coming out will be top 10 at their position right out of the gate. None probably will be by the end of year 2. I think you are expecting too much.

True, the only exception was Luke Kuechly in 2012, rookie of the year and was a top 10 player that year at his position easily.  

DB wasn't top 10,  CMC wasn't top 10 in their rookie years, etc.

Whoever is drafted needs to have an immediate impact though, especially on a defense that is severely depleted.
