he would raise the defense immediately, how high is his ceiling, I dont know but he would have an immediate impact and we simply cannot afford another physically gifted RAS project

Well no poo. What defensive player in the conversation at 8 wouldn’t raise a historically bad defense? Doesn’t mean he’s the right pick. But you’re same guy whose been repeating talking point words like “leadership! Ceiling! TE in the top 10 bad! Look at my chart to prove it! Herp derp. for the past 3 months. You’ve openly supported this undersized player without any real substance of why you’ll think he’ll be good. You even said he could challenge Carter for the first dlinemen picked. Lmao! So please tell me, what is so great about him? It must be pretty easy to explain if you rate him so highly? His run defense sucks. His pass coverage sucks, his pass rush isn’t consistently good at all. He gets washed out of place and mauled by big lineman.  Can he be Haason Reddick? Maybe. Could he also be a Vic Beasley. Definitely. I can tell you have never played an ounce of football in your life based on your posts. If I’m wrong please correct me. You have never actually brought up anything you have seen from his film study that you like. Facts are you don’t know what the fug you’re taking about and tbh I don’t think Dan Morgan knows what the fug he is doing too. He talks like a freaking potato with CTE at press conferences and gets confused with any question that has any sort of real depth to it. We’re screwed.

Yeah I love his intangibles and he seems easy to root for. As long as he doesn’t totally bust I think I’m at peace with it. I just hope we don’t force him to be an edge rusher if he’s not having success there at the NFL level.

“As long as he doesn’t totally bust I think I’m at peace with it” Lol. You sure aim high do ya? What a loser mentality

I think in theory he should but I do think Evero may struggle maximizing his abilities.

This is my biggest concern. Georgia guys can take a year or two to start realizing their potential in the NFL it seems like. Add in Evero essentially coaching for his job, and I'm hesitant on the impact any rookie makes on defense this year not named Carter, Hunter, or Graham.  That said...I want Walker unless Graham falls.

I think Walker is clearly a starter and difference maker, but will Evero play him how he needs to be played? Or will he square peg and round hole it to death sticking to his guns knowing his job is on the line?

We need 2 edges and an ILB anyway

With Clowney, Wonnum, Jones on the payroll, I am not sure they draft 2 edges this year--but who knows.  You could argue (your point) that Jalon fills 2 of those needs---but I need to watch more film (video) on him playing ILB--hard for me to get a read on him.  Understand that since my first teaching job was at Salisbury High School and the head football coach and I (OL coach) used to go the Catawba and sit in the Bennett's office and talk football and watch film with the Catawba coaches--and Jalon's dad was one of them--then they went to Coastal Carolina to start that program--I feel an emotional attachment to Jalon (who was not born at the time).  I also loved his interviews--seems high character--and I would love to see him on the Panthers' defense--if he fits.

I think his versatility scares people because that is his strength, and lack of reps in one role might be perceived as being raw--There are about 3 players I do NOT want, and Walker is not one of them.  (Stewart, Williams, TMac).

He's an OLB.  Jihad Campbell is an ILB if that helps. Someone listed as an edge rusher is either a 4-3 end or an OLB. Campbell is strictly an ILB that can blitz and cover a TE or RB out of the back field. An OLB can do the same but his main job is to rush the passer and set the edge like a 4-3 DE.

Let's do math:

If the Giants take Sanders (still some are saying they will--I do not think they will) at 3 it could get interesting.

1 Ward Tennessee

2. Hunter Cleveland (A need at WR#2 with Jeudy and an upgrade at CB#2 to replace Emerson)  I also think they will watch Sanders and move up from 33 if he drops, but not in this scenario)

3. Sanders  NY Giants (This is the hypothetical that could change the way folks are thinking.  I do not think they do this, frankly, because they just signed 2 qbs.  In addition, they have 2 edge players--but both will be paid second contracts in 2026, so the smart thing to do is draft Carter and trade Thibideaux.  However, they just took a third or fourth look at Sanders so it could happen)

4.  Carter New England  (Everyone has Campbell going to the Pats because they need a LT to protect their young QB.  Aging Harold Landry is their top edge and they were bad in that area in 2024.  Take the elite edge over the short-armed OT--this is where it gets wonky)

5. Jeanty  Jacksonville  (Most mocks have Graham here, but there are whispers that the Jags like this dominant RB and will take him.  All hell just broke loose if this happens)

(This is going well for the Panthers so far if they draft at 8. )

6.  Walker, Vegas.  (The Raiders have a need at RB they can address later, Edge, and WR--and I think they can address WR later.  If Jeanty is gone, they could take Hampton or think Edge and take Walker to play across from Crosby.  A few are saying that if Jax takes Jeanty, the Raiders are likely to take Walker, creating a situation where you have Crosby and the Micah Parson's project.)

7.  Campbell, NY Jets.  (Tyron Smith just retired.  With a new QB coming in, many had weapon TE Warren hear, but nope--LT and one could argue RT are priorities--If Campbell is gone, Membou--either way, they are taking an OT).

8.  Graham, IDL, Panthers.  Imagine a DL with Brown, Graham, Wharton, Brown III, and Robinson.  Imagine going live at Panther practices with the OL vs the DL.  Id pay just to see that.

They telegraph the first round every year, so I believe it

Not really this year. Everyone knows that Walker will be drafted by LB-needy teams. Everyone also knows we need an EDGE. They also know we need a safety. We've been linked to Walker, Williams, Stewart, Emmanwori and Starks. There's really nothing telegraphed as much as it is expected. Walker, at least pre-draft and on paper is the king of that hill. He's a no-brainer.
