rivera said we will be running a 4-3 but there will be elements of a 3-4 running as well. there has also been discussion that we will have a 3-4 from time to time, though it won't be the base D by any means.

re: the OC, our whole offensive staff comes from a coryell background. not a WCO guy among them.

thx.

i am very excited about the qb-situation...clausen has a nice but not a cannon-arm...imo, you need a very good arm for that system.

i do understand that clausen isnt rivera's pick and that ron wanted to bring in people whom he knows already...but he has also to consider the situation, imo.

No, No, No!

We do not have the personel to run the 3-4 full time. Not to mention Beason would be WASTED in a 3-4. He is too small for the middle and not big enough for outside.

Hey nucklehead. Did you not listen to Rivera when he was announced as head coach? He said he would mix in elements of the 3-4. And i actually agree that we don't have the personnel. So if he did try to run it on throwing downs, who would he plug in where.

That is why I said "Full Time".

With our current personel we could not effectively run the 3-4 FULL TIME.

If we do run it occasionally, I think you will simply see one of the ends(Brown) drop back to LB spot and not a major sub package.

Normal front 7:

LE: Johnson

DT: FA/draft

DT: FA/draft

RE: Brown

SLB: Anderson

MLB: Beason

WLB: Davis

"3-4" front 7:

LE: Johnson

DT: FA/draft

RE: FA/draft (the DT from above)

OLB: Davis

ILB: Beason

ILB: Conner

OLB: Brown/Hardy

This would not be a traditional 3-4 set (which again we do not have the personel for), but just a way to mix up where the pressure is coming from.

basically our "3-4" would be more disquise than an actual formation..

this is just an example, you may see 3 down lineman, and Eric Norwood/EBrown/Greg Hardy standing up and our linebackers moving around so there isn't a base defense for the QB to analyze..

I wouldn't expect to see that often, perhaps only 3rd downs.. there are more than a dozen ways you could switch that up..
