11 Easy Steps

OK for all the critics... I did two searches and didn't find this anywhere. Pretty interesting article and honestly all of it makes sense.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/591235-how-to-fix-the-nfls-worst-team-the-carolina-panthers-in-6-easy-steps

1. Resign D'Will... The man has a YPC average of Barry Sanders and because of J. Stewart is still pretty fresh. Keep double Trouble Together

2. Vince Young... i know many scream HELL NO and he's a bum and on and on but 10-3 is alot better than 3-9. (TD / Int ratio) 98.6 passer rating. Wait until he his cut and sign him. We have first dibs on waiver claims. (if that is how they do it during the offseason)

3. Draft Nick Fairley... They make a good point. He will command attention and if he gets alot of attention. The Beast will be free to be the BEAST.

4.DJ Williams. Not the #1 TE but might be available at # 65.

5. Cut Lloyd... I like Rhys but if he cannot kick field goals we need a kicker who can do both. Seems there are a few available this year.

6. NOT FOOTBALL RELATED BUT ROCK BOA... I love it. Fire up the speakers and play Crazy Train.... (ok so I am old and like Classic Rock)

7. Make Smitty a Pro Bowler again. Get him the ball. No doubt about it. I think Chud's is gonna make this his #1 or #2 priority. TE being the other.

8. BLITZ... NO DOUBT Again.. We have the studs to really make this a #1 defense. Dont know how many remember J. Del Rio's Defense but that was an exciting defense with 1/2 the talent and still ended up #3 or 4 overall. With this D.. No reason why we could not go straight to #1.

9. Beast in the Middle.... His natural position and others can play outside. Beast is naturally suited for MLB.

10. AE need a chance. I am of the same belief. This guy was the only 2x Walter Payton award winner. He didn't get there by being mediocre. Chud's will get him involved.

11. Add it all up and makes me Smile too. I am glad we have some fresh faces on this team. I can't wait for us to actually use it.

GO PANTHERS

Linking Bleacherreport won't win you any fans

x2

i actually skimmed this one, though. proposed getting the ball to smitty as much as possible. that isn't going to happen. say bye bye to the "feed the stud" mentality. chud and rivera wants that ball spread around. smitty (and his fanboys) is just going to have to get used to being pissed about him not getting the ball often.

It is giving credit to the author... I like the ideas but didn't write it.
not aobut you as the writer of the article, but you posting anything from bleacher report. has a deserved crappy reputation. actually worse than linking to anything from PFT/florio.

Smitty is still a playmaker and getting him the ball will open up the TE, Running lanes and so forth. IMO getting him the ball gives the offense more balance than not.

spreading the ball around is what is going to open everyone up, including smith. feeding him the ball isn't going to bring real balance.

he's getting older, but he'll have better chances at making big plays if he isnt targeted as much.

it's better for the whole team if they don't try forcing the ball to him.

12. Switch to all black (not racist) uniforms.......Black has been proven to be an intimidating color to visiting opponents. Also, it is slimming so that the opposing teams will think the O-Line lacks weight and will start their 3rd team defense.
hey it worked great for the jags when they used them and the falcons in the early 90's right?

    • Arm strength has always been overrated. But Bryce's arm was also not as bad as it looked last year - he just had terrible mechanics / footwork. He's come a LONG way. Actually, his raw arm strength isn't bad at all, as we see when he's throwing balls on the move. But prior to his benching, he didn't seem to have his mechanics down consistently enough to really drive the ball. As to eating crow, plenty of fans thought the KC game was an anomaly. With a second good game, I'm interested to see if he can make it three in a row - especially against a MUCH tougher opponent. Here's hoping!
    • And that's not even getting to the discussion of that this kid has finally shown some sort of consistency after almost 2 years of being in the league. We dedicated an entire off season of team construction and money spent on him just so we could get to this point or you might as well say sample size of what he can actually give us after a full season of let down and the stans are already marching around wanting crow...I would do yourself a favor and put that crow on the shelf sit back and continue to observe bryces progress for now because it's not out the woodwork you wont be the one eating it. Lol
    • That doesn't concern me as much with how few of those big bodies WRs there are in the NFL these days, at least of the elite WRs, most of them are more fast/quick than big. It's also why I want T-Mac so bad, he'd be a unicorn in this league right now with his size and skill combo. I actually think Hunter would make for a nice pairing with Horn because of that.  Horn would be matched with the bigger/stronger WR of a team while Hunter would take on the speedier WRs. I see a lot of positives to drafting Hunter here, as a CB, but I see way too many downsides to want to take that risk with a pick we have to hit a home run with.  I'm taking T-Mac and Burden over Hunter as a WR and I'm taking Johnson over him as a CB, 100 out of 100 times. Hunter is a legitimate generational collegiate talent, but the fact is that he's not the best prospect at either of his positions in this year's draft, combine that with other issues that come with him, and I'm just going a different way if he's on the board, let someone else deal with that headache that will follow him.
