Drafting a Friend for Jimmy Jam....

If we are going to get someone to bit on trading up, I think it's going to have to be someone that wants AJ Green. I think Cleveland might want to try to trade up from the 6th pick to get in front of Cincinnati to get him. If they were to do that, then I would be fine with just trading picks and getting their 2nd. We wouldn't be losing a whole lot.

I could also see St. Louis wanting to try to trade up and get Sam Bradford the best WR in the draft to throw to. If they wanted to do that, which I don't know if they would because of having to give out #1 money two years in a row, then they would need to give something like swapping 1st, 2nd, and a conditional future pick.

you can argue either way if desperate or not, we dont have a 2nd rounder so saying we trade down to pick one up, could be desperate. I personally dont want to draft out of the top 10, we earned that poo by sitting thru a very tough season of horrible football. Im all for making our team better, and without that 33rd pick, getting extra picks is a good deal for the most part. Say if the Cards for some reason REALLY wanted the first pick, I think dropping only 4 spots, their 3rd would be enough compensation b/c it would be the #5 pick in that round(unless they traded it and i'm not aware of it).

If we trade out of the pick, no matter whom we trade with, getting a 2nd rounder will be the absolute minimum regardless of the team.

St. Louis has to deal with the money from Bradford, Long, and Smith - so I don't know if they'd be willing to take that plunge. I could see them going after Jones.

another example of a position where the next best players talent level is close enough that most teams will settle for that 2nd or 3rd best player at their respective position, not to give up picks to trade up.

it would be an easier pill to swallow than trading with someone from the 15th pick and only getting a 2nd.

i would just rather us hang tight and miss out on the 2nd than give up that value.

still think that while we might not get the value that is in that chart, we won't be too far off from it. i sure wouldn't deviate much from it. i don't care how bad this draft is. i wouldn't want to get screwed.

this is much more realistic than trading down and getting more for it, lets just get the player they love the most and hope he becomes a superstar.

Tell me again why someone would try to trade up to #1 to pick someone that they could try to trade up to 5-10 to get?

If a team wants a player that they feel will go at 2 or 3, then you might have a team willing to trade up to the 1 to get that player.

Now that's why a team would do it, I don't necessarily think it will happen though.

You value that #1 pick more than nfl execs. I love my 92 ford festiva and wouldnt sell it for less than $20k. Call me crazy.

Depends on how far apart the first round picks are.

If you traded the #1 overall for say the #20 pick and a mid 2nd round pick, you are getting raped.
