Drafting a Friend for Jimmy Jam....

Ok, Peterson or Green then.

You can't tell me San Diego would not want Rivers throwing to Green. at the cost of a second rounder.

The problem is do you take a loss as far as trade value is concerned for the number one pick. We would be getting RAPED trading the number one pick to SD for their first and second.....

Only if you ignore overall team needs and depth.

If a team that was only 1 player away from contention did this then I would agree.

But a young team in need of quality play at multiple positions, not so much.

I could certainly see the thought behind a move like this (if it were to happen). Honestly I wouldn't be to terribly pissed however, I would hope we would be able to get more value then a first and a second if we were trading almost to the 20 slot......

Of course, but I was going for a worst case trade scenario.

Trading down would be easy, the only question is the value willing to give up.

You're right, we could easily trade down. Whether or not the F.O. is willing to be on the bad end of said trade is the real question.....

dude... suh from last year...

1 year does not a dominant DT make.

Dt's in this league are so fat and huge now that there is an elevated risk of injury at any point. Ask Jenks and Kemo. Taking one with the top pick is a huge risk. The human body is just not designed to move that fast with that type of weight, something has to give,.

Name a guy other then Suh. Oh and BTW Suh has been in the league one year' date=' he still has to prove it over time....[/quote']

Well, lets see here.

There have only been 7 total chosen in the top 5 since 2001. Two of those players were taken last year, with one of them landing on the All-Pro team.

Of the 5 that were taken outside of Suh and McCoy, The most recent ones are Dorsey and T. Jackson, both of whom play in a 3-4 defensive set, that cannot be compared to our 4-3. So yeah, I guess that you could make a comment that there haven't been many DT's make a big impact that have been drafted lately in the top 5.....that's because there haven't been many.
