this dude does not have a QB in his top 40...and has Christian Ponder ranked has the second best QB....i cant tell if he is genius or stupid

i'm leaning more towards genius with this. supposedly ponder was the most impressive QB by far at the senior bowl and with such a weak QB class the bar is set low.

the whole "my first QB is at 40, but I'm having 3 QBs go in the top 15" thing is a bit strange.

it kind of makes sense. the talent isn't very good at QB in this draft class, but the need is very high with a few teams who might be willing to reach quite a bit to get their QB. QBs that get taken early will be more out of desperation than anything. there really isn't good value for QB this year.

im not sold on dareus...in the game vs LSU he was non existent and he was out played by fairley in the iron bowl. I'm sure hes really good and will be a good pro, but i get nervous thinking about drafting him.

in all honesty jimmy was thrown into a horrible situation. I was on the jimmy clausen sucks band wagon but ill give the guy another shot.

Jack my friend, yes it is. BPA is for teams that are playoff teams. We have a clear cut need at DT and he is rated the best so take him. Look at the impact Suh, Sapp, Leroy Selmon had on their teams. This cat can have that type of impact on our DL.

You NEVER, NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER, take a WR #1. Jerry Rice in his prime wasn't worth #1 Overall. The best two WR's in the NFL sat home last year. The guy I feel is the best down in Houston has NEVER sniffed a playoff game.

Fix the DL.

The funny thing is Ponder didn't have a good week at the Senior Bowl. He constantly missed throws and had absolutely no zip on his ball.

As a matter of fact Todd McShay talked about it after the second day of practice saying out of all the QB's "Ponder really struggled"

But low and behold he has a good game and everyone loves him again. Don't buy it he was not good all week. Played pretty good in the actual game but a big chunk of his yardage in the bowl game came from a terribly thrown ball down the sideline that the WR made a good adjustment on for about 35/40 yards.

Completely agree. I'll take Fairley at #1, or trade down to get a 2nd + Dareus. Either situation would make me happy.

At least Ponder was smart enough to throw the ball to a WR that he already knew a lot about. Anyway, I thought Ponder was gonna be a really good one before he had all of those injuries, but now I don't have much confidence that he will ever make it through an NFL season as a starter.

odd argument. Suh was supposedly the best DT coming outa college in the last 32 years and the highest pick used on a DT in at least the last 10 years, and did Detroit make the playoffs? i mean i agree whole heartedly with your arguments about WR but why doesn't the same argument hold true for DT? Fairley can't sniff Suh's ability plus he comes with character issues so why would you think he would have anymore of an impact? the top 4 DTs belong to Balt, NE, Det and Buff. what do Balt and NE have that Det and Buff don't. a QB. if there isn't a QB in the draft that we think we can develop into very good QB, then i think we need to use the pick in a trade to try to get one.
