Pete Hoener (HAY-ner) is in his sixth season with the 49ers after being named tight ends coach on February 16, 2005.

Hoener has been instrumental in the development of tight ends Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker, both of whom were selected by the 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft.

In 2009, Davis enjoyed one of the most prolific seasons by an NFL tight end in recent history, a campaign that landed him a starting role in the 2010 Pro Bowl. With 13 receiving touchdowns, Davis tied an NFL record for the most touchdowns in a season by a tight end (TE Antonio Gates – 13 in 2004). His 13 touchdown catches were tied for the most in the NFL with Patriots WR Randy Moss and Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald in 2009, making him the first tight end in the Super Bowl era to lead or tie for the league lead in touchdown catches in a season. Davis also led the team with career-highs of 78 receptions and 965 receiving yards. Walker also experienced a productive season, using his elusive speed to rack up a career-high 233 receiving yards on 21 catches.

also he coached in AZ (2003), Chicago (2004) and St Louis (Cards) during the 80s

the year he coached in arizona Freddie Jones' stats improved from the last two and when he left his stats went back down immediately. He didn't have as much success in Chicago in '04 but both teams were 32nd in scoring in those two years
