Serious (Sad) Question

So a co-worker was set to have twins. Well, she gave birth to one, and the other died. So here's the question, do I get a condolence card or a congratulations card? I mean on the one hand I don't want to give her a congratulations when one of her twins died, but on the other hand I don't want to short-change the birth of a happy healthy child by only acknowledging the tragedy of the situation.

I looked in Hallmark, and they don't have con-trad-ulation cards.

Follow-up question: When, if ever would you tell the surviving twin that they had a sibling?

My girlfriend had this happen to one of her family friends. Blank card and acknowledge both sets of feelings.

Now for the hypothetical: If you were the parent, would you ever tell the surviving twin that they had a twin? If so, when?

I would tell them when they were old enough to understand life and death. My parents had both twins die at birth. I guarantee she doesn't give a poo about a card.

This. It will be a lot easier on them at a very young age than to go through life and finding out as a young adult.

yeah, definitely. I know a couple people this has happened to, one of which was my grandmother. her parents told her and she has known her whole life.

Which also means I could potentially have twins since it skips a generation.
