Terry Bradshaw just said something interesting

It was a different game back then too. Bradshaw didn't throw 5yd passes 30 times a game like they do now either. When Bradshaw completed passes, they were usually 20 or more yards down the field, which is obviously a lower percentage throw than a 5-10 yarder. He also didn't throw it but about 20-25 times a game...almost nobody did back then.

The guy deserves to be in the HOF because he was a warrior and a winner. I saw it with my own eyes and I don't even like the Steelers.

And OBTW, When Bradshaw played, a blitzing defender could come full speed and put the crown of his helmet into the QB's earhole, and it was perfectly legal. You had to have some serious guts to stand in that pocket back then.

Stopped reading after the title.

srsly tho Bradshaw was an average QB with a great team around him.

Bradshaw was even considered awful early on in his career, but the team was built around him. Swann, Stallworth, etc. made so many great catches because they had to.

Could this be the beginning of an AJ Green thread derailing?

TY mine and HLF points. A good/great team can make up for an average QB, and you would think Panthers fans would know that since we had Delhomme.

We have a good to great team right now with just a couple of pieces to add, granted one of those pieces could be another QB, but I want to see what the new coaching staff can do with Clausen first before dumping him and moving on.

I liked Bradshaw. It was a very different game back then and if a mediocre QB could win 4 SB's then why weren't other "good" QB's doing the same?

Yes, the team makes a difference but only so much. Back then, QB's were a hell of a lot tougher than what is offered now. Our team or any other.

It is all about finesse and style nowadays so I think it is unfair to compare stats and say it is fair.

The end goal is a SB ring so why don't we use that as a fair comparison?

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have a ring...you saying they are better than Marino?

Im saying I dont care if we have a guy that sets records, I want superbowl wins. So if that means getting the next dilfer in here and he wins rings vs big number then so be it.

Philip Rivers has tossed for 4000 yards 4 seasons in a row, how many rings? I want SUPERBOWL WINS, not stats.

He's right, he wouldnt be sh*t now. He wasnt sh*t then, just had unbelievable receivers

Says the 24yr old who wasn't even born when Bradshaw was playing.

Jimmy Clausen would never play another down if he had to take some of the vicious hits that Bradshaw took.

If you have never watched the man play, then you have no business criticizing him. I watched Bradshaw play many times and I'm telling you that the guy was good. You don't win 4 Super Bowls by just being lucky, that's for damn sure....especially when Bradshaw never had a defense as good as what Dilfer had or what the 85 Bears had. And don't quote me anymore stats because numbers alone don't tell the tale. You had to see it live to understand it.

You better write a memo to the nfl about how game tape is a useless teaching tool since it isn't live.

Lol! I agree Bradshaw is better than mediocre, but "If you didn't see it live you wouldn't understand" is a cop out old guys use when their arguments are slipping.

Also, 76 Steelers D > 85 Bears, or 00 Ravens.
