McNabb placing blame?

No argument from me there....Hopefully that wish will come true. I really hope they work out a new deal with #5 and he is happy....then I hope they use some of that estimated $40 million they will be under the cap to sign that top tier receiver that he deserves.

Talks with McNabb should start taking place next week I would think once Fatty Reid gets back from Hawaii. I just hope both sides are open to compromise and things get done so we can make another run at a title next year. Bottom line is without McNabb in the picture, that won't happen.

I've heard the "lousy receivers" argument for a long time, and tended to believe it. But these days, after watching some of the bad passes he threw in the NFC Championship (especially in that awful final set of downs, with the game on the line), I'm really starting to question it.

Maybe it's true, but it was also used of Atlanta's receivers prior to Matt Ryan, and now suddenly they're pro bowlers. And I'd add that it's contradictory for people to suggest that he has superior stats that make him one of the best ever but then push off the 'can't win the big one' claim by saying he's perpetually had lousy receivers.

Receivers have shuttled in and out of Philly over the years. The one constant has been McNabb. There have been some terrible ones (Fred Ex) and some good ones (currently Jackson). Most have been in-between. I honestly didn't think Thrash looked horrible in Washington. Likewise, Pinkston could have been better if he'd grown a sack. Brown and LJ Smith are likely better than they get credit for.

Add in another argument against the notion: Garcia, Feely and Detmer have all come on in relief and put up good numbers as well. Of that bunch though, Garcia is the only one to go anywhere else and look decent, and even there it was the same system. Feely got traded in a sucker transaction where the opposing GM should have known better.

Bottom line though, right here and right now, your last statement is probably correct. I wouldn't be ready to turn the team's fate over to Kevin Kolb, not by a long shot. Maybe in a few years (and his contract isn't that long) but definitely not now. Nor is there any QB on the free agent market or in the draft that I'd take over McNabb in the Eagles system.

The Eagles and McNabb likely rise (or fall) together at this point.

I hate when people say McNabb chokes in big games. Guess what, every single playoff game is a BIG game. Stakes are high and he has delivered countless times.

McNabb had some poor throws that cost the eagles points vs the Cards, but when your defense gives us 32 points, odds are, you lose.

McNabb has done more with less than any of the active QBs. Let's also not forget that Westbrook was virtually a decoy through out the entire playoffs and the last QTR of the regular season.

We all saw just a glimpse of how good McNabb can be with a true #1.

I hate when people say McNabb chokes in big games. Guess what, every single playoff game is a BIG game. Stakes are high and he has delivered countless times.

What they're really saying is "I wont respect him until he wins a Super Bowl." Then they turn around and blow Brees, Rivers, & Palmer who havent had half the success of #5.

McNabb has done more with less than any of the active QBs. Let's also not forget that Westbrook was virtually a decoy through out the entire playoffs and the last QTR of the regular season.

Yes we all can remember Donovan throwing 31 TDs and leading his team to a Super Bowl he came 3 points shy of winning in 2004. Instead of referencing Vick for the "its Donovan and not the receivers" argument, I suggest people reference Tom Brady. Did we all forget about the Pats choking in the 2006 AFC championship game? After playing with a mediocre WR group of Reche Caldwell & Jabar Gaffney that year, it finally caught up the Pats in that game and Indy defeated them on their way to their only Super Bowl. In the offseason, Brady DEMANDED his front office go out and get him a real receiver to work with. How did they respond? Oh by picking up all pro/future HOFer Randy Moss (and Wes Welker). Brady goes from 24 TDs in 06, to 50 in 07 and leads his team to a Super Bowl (where they fell short). If Im a McNabb hater or I dont believe black QBs can get it done, the last thing I wanna see is him with an ELITE wideout.

Look no further than our very own Jake Delhomme. He's got what 18 4th quarter come from behind wins? How many of those involve #89? Would his total be that high without him? We all know the answer. Get Donovan an elite wideout.

Individual QB stats, Palmer, Brees, and Rivers are all over McNabb. As far as how many championship games they have been to,and won, they are not as accomplished.

As far as how many SB victories, I think that all of them are equal.
