Who are the Panthers going to take?

If we didn't have such HUGE needs with prospects ready to fill them(Fairley, Peterson) then I might be inclined to take a flier on him, HOWEVER, that's not the position we're in.

Mizzou also is known for their system QB's who do little else than make quick reads and throws. Chase Daniel is a perfect example, though short- where is he now?

I just don't like QB's from pure spread O's.

hehe, Daniels actually has a Superbowl ring, though it has nothing to do with his play. He's currently the backup down there, and who knows where he could go from there.

Really though, the only thing Gabbert and Daniels have in common is the school at which they played and the system. Totally different prospects. I understand the hesitancy about spread QBs. I also understand we have other needs.

Like I said, I don't expect us to take Gabbert, but I do think he'll go some place high. I think the brass are still high enough on Clausen that they would rather not go after another QB so high unless they're convinced they're the next coming of whatever football great...

He'll have to show that he is what Luck was reported to be well above all others. Simply being the best QB in the draft won't get us to take him. BPA

My guess right now is... ugh, Fairley. I haven't been high on him since I started doing my research but the fact of the matter is that all the signs are pointing to him being the guy. The FO really seems to like him and of course if they're convinced that he's elite talent then they can justify him being the BPA (if they really do believe he's in the same tier as PP and AJ, I have no problems with this). He plays at a glaring need and even fits into Rivera's scheme. Too good to be true, makes me sick lol. I think the next likely candidate is the guy I would personally want to be taken. I think Bowers is the best player in the draft, I want PP because I think he is just sick, but I think we will take Fairley because that seems to be where all the media hype is and its a big position of need (no pun intended).

Also, I am seriously going to cry if we take Gabbert. We already have a bunch of young QBs on our roster and if we take Gabbert and then there is a lockout, we would not then take Andrew Luck who is going to be a sure fire thing, where I am not yet sold on Gabbert.

But with that being said, it wouldn't surprise me if we take Gabbert, have a lockout, pass on Andrew Luck because we took Gabbert, and then watch Gabbert become a complete bust and Luck win a championship within his first three seasons. Why wouldn't that surprise me? Because I am a Panthers fan.

I kind of agree with you here. truth be told, the more i read about peterson, the more i think he is the BPA. especially if he throws down a 4.3 40 like some are expecting him to.

Everyday my opinion changes on who we are going to take,.....but I'm almost positive it won't be Gabbert. I feel it will be in this order:

1. Trade Down- cmon you know Marty will be looking to do this

2a. Fairley

2b. Peterson - I don't think this is as clear cut as we make it and I think whoever impresses Hurney more out of Fairley or Peterson we take

3. Green- we start to look like the Lions, but hey they hit a homer on Megatron

He is a dynamic receiver and rusher... would be a great get. I'm afraid the Pats are going to take him though, as according to Dwayne, they have shown the most interest.

I like him as well. I didn't see much of him this season but the few games I saw on TV with ECU last season D. Harris was all over the damn place. I wouldn't mind seeing him taken but with 3 WR last season, I doubt it.

True... I'd hate to see him slip away from the Panthers just because of that. We could ALWAYS use a productive WR... I just want to see him go somewhere he'll be utilized... he's freakishly exciting every time he touches the ball. But my favorite part about him is his blocking ability... reminds me of Moose, but angrier.

I too go to ECU, and by god I really want this kid on the panthers. if we can get him, GET HIM
