Flag. 15 yards for the improper use of the word "slobber-knockers" when "knobber-slobbers" was called for.

Although the term slobberknocker usually refers to a decleater hit in reference to football, it can also refer to a person who makes hits of said decleating nature.

“A penchant for playing rough”: The recent football success for the University of Georgia has brought visibility to that unique class of player known by some as “the slobber knocker,” a guy who hits opposing players so hard that spit flies out of their mouths.

You're right? Penalty accepted, coach. **looks stupid with slight grin on face while going to the bench**

Because I had second thoughts about being so divisive (which is bordering on hypocrisy, but not quite), I changed it altogether.

Nobody in the organization going to want to upset the applecart. They believe in him because they need to.

Dead wrong. They believe in him because they've been to war with him before, and won.

When you've played with a guy at any position for as long as these guys have with Delhomme, you build trust. It takes more than a bad game (or even two or three) to erode that trust. Every player has bad games, bad plays, etc. But until the bad starts outweighing the good, teammates stand beside them.

(and don't try arguing that the bad outweighs the good with Jake; you can't back it up, and the team doesn't see it that way anyway)

I was ready to say goodbye to Jake after the playoff game. No way did I believe that the team would still put their trust in him after that mess. But they have, and they do. Both coaches and teammates have stepped to his defense.

That tells me their respect for him is deeper than mine, and the difference is my respect doesn't matter. Theirs means everything.

Other than mine of course **tongue-in-cheek** this is about the most honest post that I have seen in this discussion. One thing about it though, Scottie, we're looking from the outside in, so [fill in the cliche/all that glitters ain't gold...you can't judge a book by it's cover...]

But, your hypothesis of the situation is probably correct.

Once again, you're assuming that everyone who doesn't want Jake thinks they are the GM and they can change the QB themselves.

You really are just making up this idea that doesn't exist, and backing it up with this "you aren't the gm or on the team" stuff.

Yea we're not, neither are you or anyone else in this discussion. I'm not in Fox's office right now talking to him about Jake I'm on a forum.

Who has lost sight of that? certainly not me

New players since 2005 postseason.

Ryan Kalil

Keydrick Vincent

Jeff Otah

Dwayne Jarrett

Jon Beason

Damione Lewis

Maake Kemoeatu

Charles Johnson

Tyler Brayton

Nail Diggs

Richard Marshall

Charles Godfrey

Chris Harris

Jonathan Stewart

DeAngelo Williams

Jeff King

All of these guys, most of them starters, came here after 2005's deep playoff run. That's a real good chunk of the team that, before January, had never gone to the playoffs with Jake at QB. Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad, Thomas Davis, Brad Hoover, Jordan Gross, Travelle Wharton, Julius Peppers. That's some good talent but it's not half the other people I listed. Those guys never knew the magic of @NY and @Chicago a few years ago, and if you want to go back further than that, even Travelle and Davis didn't experience the 03 SB run. Smith loves him, he even said if Jake threw 50 interceptions he'd still be his QB.

These other people I listed believe in Jake because he's their QB, and they'd better believe in him, because if they don't, they don't belong here. That doesn't dictate my outlook on it though.

In the end, am I going to root for the guy? Of course, I've said it over and over again. He's on the Panthers and I'd really love to see him throw for 20 tds and complete 65% of his passes, but from what I've observed, I feel his run is rapidly coming to a close soon.

That's what he does though. He will accuse you of doing something he is doing himself.

TD is right it's a forum and what they said is their opinion, so let them skip over the posts like they say they will.

Your feelings are hurt I know.

55 still hasn't owned up to a blatant show of hypocrisy in his post. So I don't care what he says after this, until he can admit that. I read that novel he wrote, and I showed him where his observation was faulty, so now all he can do is put his fingers in his ears, close his eyes and start singing loudly to tune it out.

Mintal on the other hand, he has his own history of sarcastically suggesting that people know better than the Panthers front office when they say "this should be done", as if it wasn't enough for me to think he would follow up with it since a load of other people do the same thing on here. He doesn't realize his own tendencies.

Since you mention my by name I will respond.

I don't have anything to admit or own up to. You infantile ranting hardly constitutes a firm basis on reality or condemnation by a source with any credibility.

And seriously, I don't have to tune you or anyone out. I worry about opinions of posters I respect. There was a time on the old board when you were in that category but much less since you joined again.

Feel free to go back and forth with TD or whoever. But I have said the last I want to for now. Going back and forth with you just brings me down to your level and provides juvenile amusement for those posters who like to vicariously watch others insult each other. Although I get pulled into these situations more than I would like, I am done for this thread. Continue on and claim your hollow victory when I don't take the bait anymore. I am sure given your one track rants on every thread we will continue this somewhere else.

Why you got to put my name in it?:P

That's the whole thing, P-55, this forum is meant to discuss issues. There is going to be some "going back and forth" about all aspects of the team from time to time. The problem is when someone attempts to justify what is essentially an opinion while simultaneously telling someone who they disagree with that they are ignorant for having their own opinion, and that type of behavior can be viewed as insulting. This thread is not really a rant, for the most part it has been a civil discussion, save for the problem that I just mentioned.

If you attack someone for having a logical opinion (but one that you don't agree with), then it should be no surprise when they defend themselves with a counterattack. Looking over the posts, it is a wonder that this discussion hasn't degraded into outright personal attacks. I believe that it is because others (myself included) have gone out of their way to respond to juvenile-like behavior with class.

Thank you TD.

probably one of the most important things to consider was 55 started calling people whiners criers, ignorant, ...etc, long before I reciprocated. ....but I'm the one who's immature. He just wants to make a point unchallenged because "he's right because he's middle aged and that makes him smarter than everybody else".

I approached his point with patience. He just got mad because someone's going stride for stride and asking questions that he can't answer, so he's gotta talk my point down without real basis and worst of all, he can't admit a perfect example of his twisting words to support his case, meanwhile he's been accusing me of doing the same thing this whole time.
