Online Booking Sites, Spring Break, and Me

Decided with a friend today that we're going to New Orleans for Spring Break. I want it to be the best break I can't remember (and with Maudi Gras going on and everything at the same time I want to be there ). I wanted to use one of those sites where I can get the airfare and hotel rooms bundled together (and be close to all the action - preferably within walking distance), so I can save a few bucks.

Any experiences/advice/recommendations with doing this kind of thing online? I don't want to go over $500 for the total package and I plan on staying a few days. Would prefer a nice hotel, but I can deal with just about anything as long as I can get to it in a drunken stupor and sleep there.

Got your PM and responded. I'm sure we'll be able to beat what you could get at any regular booking engine such as Orbitz and Expedia. It saves me enough that it covers my expenses for my site.

So now New Orleans is too expensive, so we're looking at Panama City Beach or another beach in Florida (plus more women! Barely clothed women at that!). Any experiences/suggestions with hotels there or on another Florida beach?
