Clausen fails the 26-27-60 rule...

Completion percentage is often overhyped. Clausen can check the ball down 80% of the game and go 20/26 for 200 yards and it not mean a dang thing.

It can be overhyped because of the WCO offense, but when Clausen checks down, it's because the vertical route either didn't come open or he's running out of time...when a WCO QB throws those short passes, that's his first read and it's a higher percentage pass.

I've said it many times...Davidson's play calling was extremely hard on a rookie QB. I firmly believe that Clausen could have put up better numbers under the right circumstances.

the kid just is bad man.....and everyone starts Clausen's threads daily (I haven't started a single one).

the NFL is hard enough when you have great physical tools (like a Jarrett). Bottom line is Clausen just doesn't have anything to be excited about or a reason to believe in.

It doesn't matter if you start them you post in all of them. It's becoming strange how much hate you have for a 22-23 year old kid. It seem like you look for Jimmy name in a post so you can blast him and anybody who likes him. Do you ever take a break from the Jimmy hunt and kill mission your on?

that is only true part of the time.....he also is checking down simply b/c he refuses to attempt throws and ignores parts of the field. He also scrambles pointlessly killing routes and looking for some to checkdown to.

Fox and Davidson's offense isn't easy.....it requires you something Jimmy just didn't do. Moore at least attempted to do it...he did it successfully some years just not in 2010. And Moore's horrible play wasn't the OL's fault....just like it wasn't for Clausen. Moore just missed throws.....to open guys and made poor ones too often.

I don't hate Clausen. I think "he" actually handled thing pretty well and I think most of the bs talked about his attitude and being a prick is just that....bs. He just doesn't look to have what it takes to play football at this level.....and that starts w/ basics. The Panthers are my team so I am ready not to waste anymore pointless time until he shows something to earn time as a starting QB. I am confident that Rivera will bring in someone.....last season was a joke. It made Delhomme in 09 not looking as crazy as it was.....

IMO, the most important parts of that equation are number of starts and completion %. I couldn't care less about a wonderlic score.

I was listening to Gil Brandt on late hits and he was talking about when the light bulb comes on for most college quarterbacks. He said that 30 starts was a good time to evaluate a guy to see what his potential would be. For what it is worth, Clausen had 27 starts. Don't know how that relates to how many starts you need at a pro level before the light should begin to shine.

As for the wonderlic, it seems a valid measure given it emphasizes problem solving and speed of mental process. While it won't be a great measure when looked at in isolation, it does provide good information when taken in the context of the larger picture. Of course a great number in one area could compensate for an average or poor score in another one. Still intelligence has to be a important.

I wonder what Dalton will get on the test...he blows the other 2 categories out of the water. He has 30+ starts and something like a 63% career pass completion percentage.

I like Dalton a lot. If the Panthers go defense in the first round and could somehow get Dalton in the 3rd, I wouldn't complain. I don't think he will last that long though.

I think the general gist of the test makes sense, but following it to the letter of "the law" is foolish. You would expect that a decently accurate, smart quarterback, who had experience in more than one season as a starter at his school would have a good chance of doing well in the NFL.
